•EveryMind Mental Health Services • is currently recruiting for a skilled, experienced, and enthusiastic Resource Consultant with a strong background in Early Childhood Care in the Child & Youth Mental Health Sector for its PIRS program in a contractual role.

Peel Inclusion Resource Services (PIRS) is a partnership between the Region of Peel and several community agencies, including EveryMind, to provide special needs resourcing to facilitate early intervention and successful inclusion of children with special needs in licensed childcare programs.

Summary of Function
=======================


The Resource Consultant is a member of the PIRS team that has prime responsibility for providing special needs resourcing support to childcare providers and parents'caregivers of children aged between 0-6 years as well as school age at times, attending a licensed childcare program in Peel Region. The Resource Consultant is responsible for supporting early intervention and the successful inclusion of children who have special needs by providing both direct and indirect service to childcare providers and parents/caregivers to enable them to support the child's optimal development and functioning within the childcare program. The Resource consultant is also responsible for building capacity by working with childcare programs, families and communities and promoting diversity, equity and inclusion

The contract is until December 24, 2025, with a start date as early as possible.

Hiring Salary range - $58,923- $68,932 (5 step band) over 5 years

Job Responsibilities:



The incumbent will:

• Provide services using delivery methods such as: In Person, In Community, and Virtual
• Work in collaboration with childcare providers to ensure an optimal learning environment for all children through conducting an inclusion scan and providing relevant strategies and recommendations.
• Adhere to specific childcare program policy and procedures identified by PIRS, in accordance with the licensing requirements.
• Provide consultation services, learning and development opportunities, mentoring and modeling to childcare professionals to increase their capacity to work with children with special needs and to support the healthy development of children within childcare programs.
• Develop Individual Program Plans, for each child on their formal caseload, in partnership with the child's family and teachers, incorporating the recommendations of other professionals who are supporting the child and program.
• Determine the child's strengths and needs by using a variety of developmental and environmental tools, which will indicate supports necessary to encourage progress in all areas of the child's development.
• Identify the childcare programs strengths and needs using a variety of environmental tools to enhance global skills of staff and strengthen the quality of the program.
• Coordinate referrals, attend appointments and consultation visits with therapists, doctors and other service providers and seek support from the PIRS Specialized Consultation Team as required
• Collaborate with teacher/child care provider on a regular basis to review the Individual Program Plan, progress and next steps.
• Provide learning and development opportunities for childcare providers, which enable the enhancement of skills to better meet the needs of the child and childcare program.
• Provide case management and maintain up-to-date records for each child identified on the Resource Consultant's formal caseload. In order to monitor the child's progress towards meeting long and short-term goals the Resource Consultant will maintain on-going progress notes, records of any meetings pertaining to the child and any recommendations made by other professionals involved (e.g., Speech, Occupational Therapy, Behavioural Intervention, etc.).
• Provide a Summary of Service Report when the child is no longer receiving formal services/support from the Resource Consultant, or when the child transitions into the school system.
• Actively participate as part of the EVERYMIND 0-6 multidisciplinary team.
• Maintain competence and fidelity of the PIRS model by participating in reflective supervision, professional/program development and training opportunities.
• Promote continuous quality improvement within PIRS service by participating in working groups and/or committees as need arises.
• Remain current in the knowledge of best practices and all relevant legislation pertaining to children's services.
• Provide supervision to students as required, completing all documentation.
• Actively participate as part of the childcare program support team.

Skills and Qualifications

• Early Childhood Education Diploma AND Resource Consultation Certification OR an Early Childhood Education Diploma with Advanced Studies in Special Needs OR a Bachelor's Degree in Child Studies.
• Registration with and in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators.
• Three years' experience working with and programming for children with special needs.
• Demonstrated experience with supporting inclusion of children within the 0-6 age range.
• Must have a current and satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Police Check completed within last 6 months from the date of hire.
• Excellent English language communication skills, written and oral are essential. Proficiency in other languages used by residents of Peel Region is an asset.
• Competence with computer based technology for data entry, information sourcing and report writing, MS-Office.
• Demonstrate understanding of child development and using a mental health and trauma informed lens.
• Demonstrate the ability to work within and serve a diverse community.
• Sound knowledge of various philosophies used within the childcare community.
• Have a valid Ontario Driver's license (Full G Class), use of a vehicle with a comfort in driving throughout the Peel region (and surrounding areas);
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, according to client and program needs;
• A Satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Police Check and Pre-Employment Medical screening (including TB test, MMR, TD, Polio, Covid-19 Vaccination), is required;
