About Our Opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for a Residential Tenancy Officer 2 who will work with a team of professionals to deliver Residential Tenancy services and Condominium Dispute services on behalf of Service Nova Scotia.

Qualifications and Experience

To be successful in this position, you hold a bachelor\'s degree and a minimum of 5 years of related experience in delivering services to clients through administration, mediation and adjudication. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.

In addition, you have:

  • Extensive knowledge of the policies, processes and the governing Acts and Regulations for the Residential Tenancy and Condominium Dispute programs;
  • General knowledge of the rules of natural justice and legal terminology;
  • Research techniques, financial analysis and decision/report writing as it relates to mediation and dispute resolution services.
  • The ability to distill complex and sometimes ambiguous information into concise findings of fact;
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to share information concisely and to listen effectively;
  • Well-developed interviewing skills to deal effectively with clients on sensitive matters;
  • The ability to create, store and manage electronic files on local and network drives using software and scanning hardware;
  • Proficiency in various computer applications such as Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams and Adobe
The following are considered assets: Working knowledge of court procedures and civil procedure rules to conduct fair hearings and provide proper weight to evidence presented and proficiency in case management software.

We will assess the above qualifications and competencies using one or more of the following tools: written examination, standardized tests, oral presentations, interview(s), and reference checks.

Pay Grade: PR 14

Salary Range: $2,640.65 - $3,215.50 Bi-Weekly
