Job Description


The Resident Care Coordinator is responsible for leading the delivery of high-quality care standards, aligning healthcare services with the needs of residents, and adhering to company standards and policies. This role emphasizes fostering positive relationships with staff, residents, families, and the broader community.Resident Care Coordinators exemplify strong leadership, teamwork, and a passion for providing exceptional service and support. They maintain an empathetic and respectful approach, paying close attention to detailsxe2x80x94especially the xe2x80x98little things' that enhance residents' quality of life.Note: The Berkeley is not a long-term care facility but rather an independent retirement residence focused on supporting residents' independence while providing essential services.Provide Nursing Care to residents:

  • Administer medications, dressings, and treatments as per the doctor's orders
  • Accurately transcribe and follow up on all doctor's orders, including reordering medications as required.
  • Stay updated on all prescribed medications and ensure their safe storage and handling.
  • Adhere to the Code of Ethics and the Acts and Regulations outlined by the Nova Scotia College of Nursing.
  • Schedule Personal Care Workers (PCWs) and Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) to ensure effective and continuous care for all residents.
  • Utilize clinical and problem-solving skills to assess new residents and conduct ongoing evaluations of resident care needs.
Supervision, Training and Performance Management:
  • Advocate and promote The Berkeley CARE Standards to all employees, ensuring they are reflected in daily interactions with residents.
  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of company standards, codes of conduct, and expectations.
  • Actively participate in initiatives for continuous quality improvement to enhance resident care and operational efficiency.
  • Manage the performance of Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) and Personal Care Workers (PCWs) as needed, including conducting annual performance appraisals
  • Engage in training sessions and meetings to maintain and improve professional knowledge and skills.
  • Temporarily assume General Manager responsibilities during periods of vacation or extended leave, ensuring seamless operational continuity.
Scheduling and Administration:
  • Ensure adequate coverage of Personal Care Workers (PCWs) and Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) by creating and maintaining effective work schedules.
  • Verify the accuracy of employee timesheets and submit payroll data promptly and as required.
  • Regularly update resident care plans and ensure PCWs and LPNs have access to the most current information for providing quality care.
Health, Wellness, Safety:
  • Follow established procedures for health and safety, ensuring compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and company policies.
  • Promptly report any unusual occurrences, illnesses, or unexpected resident behaviours to the General Manager.
  • Actively engage in resident and employee programs, including the Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee (JOHSC), Fire Safety, and Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS).
  • Adhere to Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) regulations by reporting and taking appropriate actions to correct unsafe conditions in a timely manner.
Qualifications:
  • Currently registered with the Nova Scotia College of Nursing.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of health care practices, including courses in Dementia and Pharmacology.
  • Proven experience in a charge or supervisory role within a healthcare setting.
  • Valid Standard First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Strong leadership abilities with effective management and communication skills.
  • Exceptional organizational, time management, and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Demonstrates a positive attitude and excels as a team player.
