Residential Support Worker (RSW)
, you will play a crucial role in creating a warm, supportive home atmosphere that fosters independence, empowerment, and a sense of belonging.
As a RSW you will provide personal care, facilitate daily activities, and teach effective coping skills to individuals that promote greater personal autonomy and richer life options. You will preform a range of tasks. Some examples are personal care, household duties (ie., meal prep, indoor and outdoor chores, laundry, etc.) medication administration, transportation to and from work, social events or appointments as required.
Key Responsibilities
Build and maintain trusting relationships that ensure emotional security and unconditional support.
Facilitate personal growth and independence through community involvement.
Implement behavior programming to teach effective coping skills.
Perform household duties such as meal preparation, laundry, and indoor/outdoor chores.
Administer medication safely and provide personal care.
Support individuals in their routines, work, and recreational activities.
Respond effectively to emergencies and emerging health concerns.
Adapt to shift schedules as required by operational needs.
Required Abilities
Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
Basic computer proficiency, including email, internet research, and word processing.
Knowledge of community living sector principles and practices.
Ability to assess human behavior and respond supportively.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Ability to work as part of a collaborative residential team.
Qualifications
Grade 12 or GED equivalent.
Community Support Worker
or
Home Support/Care Attendant Certificate
.
Prior experience in supportive home care is an asset.
Valid
Class 5 driver's license
.
Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
Requirements for Employment
Criminal Record Check (renewable every five years).
TB Test.
Valid WCB-approved First Aid Certificate (OFA Level 1).
Class 5 driver's license.
Restricted Class 4 driver's license (or willingness to obtain).
