Residence Attendant


Position Summary


Are you living in Residence at Red Deer Polytechnic? Are you looking to enhance your polytechnic experience? We are hiring for several positions and welcome you to join our team as a Residence Attendant for the 2025-2026 Academic year.



The Residence Attendant will assist with Residence Operations, create community and help maintain a safe environment by enforcing community guidelines for all residents and guests in Residence.


Position Responsibilities


Responsibilities of the Residence Attendant include:


Customer Service/Administrative Duties


Provides administrative support for Residence Move-In, Move-Out, Health and Safety Inspections, Maintenance Requests, Emergency evacuations and Daily Residence Operations. Provides administrative support for Guest Accommodation, Check-In, Check-Out, Health and Safety Inspections, Maintenance Requests and Emergency Evacuations. Completes Closing procedures daily if applicable. Performs on-call duty responsibilities including responding to residents and guests requests, complaints, emergency situations and general supervision of Residence.





Residence Life Programmer


In consultation with the Residence Life Lead Attendant, organize, implement and review programs and events to meet the current needs of the tenants. Ensure that all participants are observing RDP policy and procedures. Creatively advertises/actively promotes each program. Assist in the management of event registration of each program/event. Provide support for Residence wide programming initiatives.



Peer Support


Develop relationships with building residents. Respond to personal and medical situations as necessary, offering first responder support until other services attend. Refer students and residents to appropriate Polytechnic and/or Community Services and resources. Sets a high standard of conduct for other residents to follow. Maintains confidentiality of resident and guest information following FOIPP.



Community and Behavioral Standard Enforcement


Informs students of Community and Behavioral Standards, Polytechnic Policy and Procedure. Enforcement of policy and follows up on violations according to established Residence and Polytechnic procedures. Responsible for on-duty shifts to be able to respond to any and all incidents in Residence. Provides detailed documentation of on-duty activities. Works alongside Campus Security to ensure compliance of Residence Behavioural and Community Standards as necessary.



Residence Life Team Member


Participates in all required training programs including but not limited to: Resident Attendant Intensive Training, Mental Health First Aid, Non-Violent Crisis Intervention, and Winter Retreat. Responsible for attending regularly scheduled Residence Life Meetings. Communicates with Residence Life Lead Attendant on a regular basis. Develops and maintains an open working relationship with other Resident Attendants, Residence Staff and the Residence Attendant - Lead. Supports the Residence Life Team and the operations to execute successful programming and administrative functions.

Required Qualifications


Required to be a full time

RDP

student for the 2025/2026 Academic Year*

Must be accepted and living in Residence for the 2025/2026 Academic Year*
High school diploma or equivalent to about 12 years of schooling Experience living in a Residence Excellent time management skills Customer service experience First Aid and CPR Certification All employees in this position are to provide a satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check in accordance with the Polytechnic's Criminal Record Check Policy prior to the start of their employment



Preferred Qualifications


Completion of one (1) year college certificate, one year University or equivalent Experience in a leadership role is an asset Conflict mediation and/or interpersonal skills Previously have lived in Residence

$508 per month


Benefits and Compensation Information


An additional 15% of the stipend rate in lieu of vacation and benefits.
