Location - This role is in-person at North Campus Edmonton.
This position involves (a) operation and maintenance of instruments that are capable of performing cell culture and cell irradiation, (b) cell irradiation and analysis of cell death based on clonogenic survival and short-term assays (c) protein purification (d) DNA damage assays including western blots of protein extracts and immunofluorescence. These services may also include the preparation and maintenance of genomic samples and cell extracts that need to be processed. In addition to sample preparation and analysis, this position will be required to report results to the supervisor in a timely and appropriate manner. This position will also be responsible to follow best laboratory practices and maintain a safe and
professional work environment.

Summarizes experimental results
Modifies existing protocols for particular experiments to meet research objectives
Consults with the Principal Investigator and other staff to develop new experiments and techniques for research projects
Uses a variety of lab equipment to conduct experiments and monitors results; collects and organizes data on experiments and conducts preliminary analysis
Ensures good communication and cooperation with other team members
Performs other related duties as requested by the Principal Investigator and senior staff in the lab
BSc in a relevant field or Diploma in Laboratory Research
10+ years of experience working in research laboratories
Special training required for Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS)
Special training required for handling open and closed sources of radioactivity
Special training to operate complex equipment
People skills to collaborate with and train others and be a good team player
Excellent skills in handling small amounts of reagents
Strong computer skills for data analysis and operation of equipment
Experience working with animals and animal tissue is strongly preferred
Ability to interact effectively within a dynamic team-based research environment
Strong written and verbal communication skills
