Position Description





We are looking to hire a part-time Research Project Coordinator (approx. 0.5 FTE) to join a research study examining the experiences of Canadian youth living with chronic physical and mental health conditions as they navigate the transition into adulthood and adult health care. Results of this study will help discern the shared experiences of the transition journey from pediatric to adult healthcare settings and identify system-based solutions to support successful transitions. We will be using both systems engineering and arts-based qualitative research methods for this study.
The research coordinator role will include study administration, Research Ethics Board submissions, youth engagement, conducting qualitative interviews and/or focus groups, interview/focus group and field note transcription, and facilitating data analysis. The CRPC will also assist in the preparation of study results, including presentations, progress reports, and manuscripts.
Here\'s What You\'ll Get To Do:
  • Assist the Principal Investigators (PIs) in research protocol development; contribute to preparation of reports, presentations, and manuscripts.
  • Assist in design of interview guides and data collection materials.
  • Assist P.I. with scientific review process.
  • Coordinate REB submission and revisions process.
  • Encourage and foster collaborative relationships with community partners.
  • Conduct literature reviews and keep current with study literature.
  • Attend and document outcomes of study team meetings.
  • Assist with design/development of promotional materials/newsletters.
  • Support the recruitment of study participants and youth advisory panel
  • Engage in the data generation process (i.e. conducting interviews, co-facilitating focus groups)
  • Develop and monitor study timelines.
  • Initiate and maintain a research folder that will include all study-related documentation.
  • Support youth and patients/caregivers with participating in research activities.
  • Identify opportunities for integrated knowledge translation of results and support youth to mobilize findings.
  • Organize materials to facilitate protocol adherence.
  • Prepare/submit purchase requisitions and invoices.
  • Maintain budget records.

Here\'s What You\'ll Need:
  • Masters of Science or equivalent.
  • Min. 2 years of clinical or public health research experience.
  • Ability to function independently yet collaboratively within a team.
  • Effective communication (oral and written), interpersonal, facilitation and organizational skills.
  • Comfort working with youth and community partners/organizations.
  • Certification as a clinical research associate (e.g., SOCRA, ACRP accreditation) is an asset.
  • Previous experience in qualitative research, participatory action research, and youth engagement is an asset.
  • Experience with patient journey mapping and/or photovoice research methods is an asset.
  • Experience using social media is an asset.
  • Maturity, flexibility and an ability to prioritize project needs.
  • Excellent project coordination/management skills.
  • A commitment to understanding and aiding in the pursuit of equity, diversity and inclusion objectives
