Your opportunity:

The Political Accountability, Transparency, and Representation Oversight Network (PATRON), an interdisciplinary collaboration of academics and journalists committed to enhancing the quality, transparency, and accessibility of public data in Canada, based at the University of Toronto and University of Toronto Scarborough, seeks an experienced and dynamic Research Partnerships Officer. This role will report to the Principal Investigator, coordinate closely with the Principal Investigator (Prof. Christopher Cochrane) and co-Investigator (Prof. Rohan Alexander) to lead project management ensuring alignment with project goals, assist in project budgeting, monitoring expenditures, and ensuring adherence to financial targets and serve as a primary liaison with project partners, overseeing partner agreements, subgrants, and reporting to government and funding agencies. The role will also plan and provide logistical support for project-related events, workshops, and seminars, demonstrating resilience and effectiveness in deadline-driven environments and contribute actively to grant writing and funding proposal efforts.

Your responsibilities will include:

Building and strengthening relationships with stakeholders and partners of strategic importance Delivering presentations to promote programs, opportunities and/or initiatives Researching and recommending new opportunities for external collaborations and partnerships Conducting detailed analysis of grant application policy to maximize research funding Developing project schedules including milestones, critical path, timelines, deliverables and reporting Writing and editing targeted communications to support strategic initiatives Administering accounts in accordance with funding terms and conditions Monitoring, recording, reconciling and/or reporting on funding accounts for grants and contracts

Essential Qualifications:

Master's Degree in Political Science or a related field, or acceptable combination of equivalent experience. Completion of PhD would be highly preferred. Minimum five years of research project planning and/or research administration, including a demonstrated track record of successfully securing research funding with a deep knowledge of the Canadian political science and political finance sector. Must have previous involvement in managing interdisciplinary or collaborative projects, particularly in journalism, political science, public policy, or related fields. Significant experience with grant writing and familiarity with government funding processes. Strong grasp of project management fundamentals with demonstrated experience leading projects that includes managing project resources, engaging diverse stakeholders, establishing milestones and communicating project deliverables and status. Experience managing registration and the logistics of both in-person and virtual meetings/webinars using software such as Zoom and Teams. Strong communication skills (verbal and written) with the ability to analyze and synthesize information from multiple sources and stakeholders. Strong time management skills with the ability to work well under pressure and meet competing priorities and deadlines. Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 Suites (e.g. Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
