Summary Full-time, 3 year contract At the South Australian Health and Medical Research Institute (SAHMRI), we are committed to achieving innovative, ground-breaking health and medical research that fundamentally improves the quality of life for all people.
The Proteomics, Metabolomics and MS-Imaging facility provides an advanced analytical chemistry service. This position supports these services through sample preparation, running experiments and maintaining a well-stocked and organised laboratory. About the role
Key responsibilities include:

  • Generate, analyse, interpret and report proteomics data.
  • Develop validated methods in accordance with relevant guidelines.
  • Maintain laboratory records and relevant databases in a timely manner.
  • Review, analyse and apply relevant scientific literature.
  • Train staff and students in relevant techniques and methods.
  • Ensure laboratory supplies are appropriately stocked.
  • Routine maintenance of equipment.
  • Comply with human ethics, animal ethics, privacy and other appropriate guidelines.
  • Contribute to the maintenance and functioning of the laboratory, be a good corporate citizen.
  • Participating in appropriate training programs, as required.
About You
The successful candidate will possess the following key attributes:
  • PhD in a relevant field and 3-5 years postdoctoral work experience.
  • Strong background in molecular biology or related field to enable higher level interpretation of proteomics results.
  • Data analysis experience, e.g. databank searching and statistical evaluation of results.
  • Expertise in using proteomics software, e.g. MaxQuant, Perseus, Spectronaut, Peaks Studio.
  • Proven ability to develop proteomics and phospho-proteomics methods.
  • Sample preparation experience for proteomics.
  • Knowledge of LC-MS, LC-MS/MS and nano/micro HPLC strongly preferred.
  • Experience in development of validated methods highly desirable.
  • Good critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Well-developed verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent time management.
  • Good team player.

  • Some out of hours work may be required.
  • DCSI Employment Screening and Police Checks may be required.
