The Lawrence Bloomberg Faculty of Nursing at the University of Toronto invites applications for a full-time Research Officer who will support a Tri-Council-funded study aimed at improving pain care in neonatal intensive care units globally. This study will expand the benefits achieved through a pain practice change implementation strategy developed and tested in Canada by translating and culturally adapting this tool to other languages, while informing a model for translation and cultural adaptation of health implementation strategies in limited resource contexts.



Under the general direction of the Principal Investigator, the successful incumbent will provide research, and administrative support to a multimethod knowledge translation study.




Your responsibilities will include:





Performing a review of relevant and current research literature. Verifying the accuracy and completeness of grant submissions. Drafting and submitting documented procedures to the Research Ethics Board (REB) for approval. Following rules and procedural instructions when administering research studies. Proofing and posting adverts to recruitparticipants and probing for information from potential participants to determine if they meet study criteria. Implementing and executing qualitative and/or quantitative research methods including overseeing the distribution and collection of research surveys and questionnaires. Coordinating meeting schedules, agendas, materials, action and follow-up items Collecting data, assisting with data analysis, and preparing draft statistical reports, manuscripts, and summaries/materials from data collected for knowledge translation purposes, and conference presentations.

Essential qualifications:





Bachelor's Degree in the health sciences (nursing, public health, medicine etc.), social sciences, health services research, or health information technology. Minimum two years of health-related work experience conducting research, analyzing, interpreting and reporting on results. Working knowledge in implementation science and knowledge translation. Demonstrated ability to show a strong interest in pain research. Experience coordinating research projects and implementing qualitative and quantitative research methodologies. Experience drafting summaries of research results, preparing written materials for knowledge translation purposes and conducting literature reviews. Experience with qualitative and quantitative data collection, including participant recruitment, interpretation and analysis through coordination of focus groups, interviews, validated research questionnaires and, and functional tests. Experience in data management, conducting statistical analysis of data and performing qualitative data analysis. Experience in preparing grant proposals and Research Ethics Board submissions. Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office), database management (RedCap), qualitative data management packages (e.g. NVivo), data analysis software (e.g. SPSS, SAS). Proficiency with reference management tools (e.g. Mendeley, Endnote). Strong research and analytical skills. Excellent interpersonal, time management, organizational and problem solving skills. Excellent attention-to-detail and an ability to multi-task and prioritize competing demands. Demonstrates initiative, ability to meet deadlines and willingness to learn new skills. Excellent communication skills (written and verbal), with ability to work independently but also effectively as part of a multi-professional project team.

Assets (Nonessential):





Master's Degree in Health Sciences, Social Sciences, or Health Services Research. Clinical experience.

USW Pay Band 09 - $67,916. with an annual step progression to a maximum of $86,855. Pay scale and job class assignment is subject to determination pursuant to the Job Evaluation/Pay Equity Maintenance Protocol.
