MacEwan University is seeking a Research Grants and Development Officer for a full-time continuing opportunity with the Office of Research Services (ORS). You will administer the external research grants process and provide support to faculty and students in preparing research grant applications for all types of funding. You will be responsible for seeking new sources of research funding and partnerships and facilitate communication between MacEwan researchers and internal and external collaborators to help create and build better relationships with MacEwan and various community members. This position also acts as a senior member of the ORS team in taking on new initiatives and projects assigned by AVP, Research.


Key responsibilities include:

Collaborating with faculties and other members of ORS to develop efficient processes related to external research grants and contracts, this includes developing procedures for submission, awarding, monitoring, compliance and reporting; Developing and delivering internal programs and training workshops to support faculty and student researchers; Managing the external grant application process, updating information and monitoring approvals; Determining the efficacy and efficiency of external grant programs and provides recommendations to the AVP, Research on future directions; Participating in various committees within ORS, and other areas within MacEwan, as directed by the AVP, Research; Developing strategic partnerships and facilitating relationships between MacEwan researchers with internal and external stakeholders including industry, community partners, funding bodies, government, etc; Identifying external funding opportunities for MacEwan faculty with various external organizations to create and develop new research partnerships, this includes networking with existing agencies, partners and stakeholders; Liaising with internal departments such as Fund Development, Roundhouse, Social Innovation Institutes, Office of Sustainability, and individual academic departments with existing connections to identify new research partners and collaborative research projects; Identifying eligibility and interpreting guidelines for applicability to MacEwan researchers and seeking clarification and advice on specific items and conditions of relevance to MacEwan researchers when needed; Maintaining communication with MacEwan applicants regarding specific internal and external deadlines, external application procedures, and available resource materials and program updates; Providing advice on application strategies and research program development; and Ensuring institutional compliance with funding agency requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS



A minimum of a master's degree in a research-based discipline. A minimum of 5 years of combined research, research administration, and university administration. An understanding of the university research environment. An understanding of major research funding programs in Alberta and Canada. Experience in writing and reviewing research proposals. Experience in leading independent initiatives and programs. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
