AboutFace is Canada's only charity supporting individuals with a facial difference and their families. We provide emotional and social support, education, advocacy, and public awareness programs to foster understanding and build inclusive spaces. Our programs and services aim to encourage and empower the facial difference community, families, friends, and allies while providing educational resources and public awareness campaigns.
Position Overview
The Fundraising and Development Officer will play a vital role in advancing the mission of AboutFace by securing philanthropic support from individuals, corporations, foundations, and other sources. This position is responsible for planning, executing, and evaluating comprehensive fundraising strategies, cultivating donor relationships, managing stewardship efforts, and contributing to revenue-generating initiatives. The position will also support program management through assisting with program creation and logistics, special events, and any other duties as needed.
The primary responsibilities of the role include:
Fund Development (55%)
Develop and implement an annual fundraising plan with clear goals and metrics.
Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward individual, corporate, and foundation donors.
Manage annual giving campaigns, including direct mail and digital fundraising.
Write compelling grant proposals and impact reports for foundations and corporate sponsors.
Maintain and grow a monthly giving program and mid-level donor base.
Events and Campaigns (25%)
Plan and execute fundraising events (virtual and in-person), including peer-to-peer and third party events.
Lead national campaign initiatives such as Craniofacial Acceptance Month and Giving Tuesday.
Collaborate with program and communications staff to ensure alignment with organizational messaging and branding.
Create events to hold in conjunction with hospital partners and families
Work with summer camp partners to help develop camp strategies for 2026.
Donor Stewardship & CRM Management (15%)
Maintain accurate donor records and pipelines using the CRM database (e.g., Salesforce, or equivalent).
Develop and implement donor recognition and stewardship plans.
Development of Donor Newsletter / Event Calendar
Prepare timely acknowledgments and donor impact communications.
Other Duties (5%)
Work collaboratively with staff and board on special initiatives.
Provide support for AboutFace's communications and advocacy efforts as needed.
Participate in strategic planning and evaluation processes
For AboutFace, the qualifications and skill-set of successful candidates are:
Minimum 2 years of experience in fundraising, development, or related non-profit roles.
Demonstrated success in securing gifts from individual and institutional donors.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, especially in proposal and case writing.
Proficiency with donor databases and CRM systems.
Knowledge of software such as Canva and Mailchimp.
Experience writing newsletters and social media content, and planning social media campaigns.
Ability to network with like-minded organization in order to broaden our reach as a national organization.
Knowledge of website management and Wordpress an asset.
Highly organized, results-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities.
Knowledge of the Canadian philanthropic landscape and CRA charitable giving regulations.
Passionate about AboutFace's mission and values; lived experience with facial difference is an asset but not required
