YOUR FOCUS
Reporting to the Principal Investigator, the objective of this research position is to investigate and develop target trajectory estimation and target interception for the missile defence problem. This project will explore both, researching the state of the art, developing prototype applications of those technologies to the problem set, and evaluating their potential performance in simulated missile defence environments.
Position Summary:
Developing and implementing models:
creating mathematical and computational models of physical or engineering systems using Python and relevant libraries (e.g., NumPy, SciPy, Pandas, TensorFlow, PyTorch).
Experience modeling high-fidelity vehicle dynamics and control systems for hypersonic glide vehicles and embedded test platforms.
Simulating results with real-time systems and custom PCBs using FreeRTOS and C for sensor and actuator control.
Working with other engineers, scientists, and researchers to integrate models, share data, and contribute to larger projects.
Researching and developing AI guidance and control laws for hypersonic vehicles.
Presenting findings, preparing reports, and potentially publishing research in academic or industry forums.
WHAT YOU BRING
A bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering or scientific discipline is required.
EIT Requirements:
To become an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of New Brunswick (APEGNB), you must meet academic requirements by having a degree from a Canadian university with a CEAB-accredited Bachelor of Engineering (or a Geoscience degree), residency requirements in New Brunswick, and effectively communicate in English or French. You must then gain practical experience under supervision, which you document and assess using APEGNB's Competency-Based Assessment (CBA) system.
Expertise in Python:
Strong proficiency in Python for scientific computing, data analysis, and potentially machine learning or deep learning applications within the context of modeling and simulation.
Extensive experience with Python for GUI development, sensor integration (UART, SPI, I2C), trajectory processing, and encrypted communication (AES-256).
Implemented data smoothing, real-time feedback loops, and autonomous sensor communication systems.
Additional Strengths
Understanding of the specific domain being modeled (e.g., aerospace, automotive, robotics, controls). Applied knowledge of guidance, navigation, and control (GNC) system modeling in aerospace applications.
