Job Description


The Intrepid Lab (formerly Nicotine Dependence Service) at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) is seeking a full-time, contract (one year) Research Coordinator to support a range of digital innovation, research, quality improvement and implementation activities including support for projects that are software-driven technology solutions for problems in healthcare intervention design and delivery.

Intrepid Lab is an integrated group of clinicians, researchers and program administrators, who design, develop, deliver and evaluate healthcare interventions and services with a focus on nicotine dependence as well as modifiable risk factors for chronic disease. Our aim is to develop solutions to overcome limitations of the healthcare system and scale up these solutions rapidly. Therefore, our solutions invariably include software-driven, web-based programs for their high scalability, data acquisition and potential to guide user behaviour.

Reporting to the Manager, and working closely with a team of Research Coordinators, Scientists and Directors, the candidate will support the design, implementation and daily coordination of a variety of clinical/quality improvement programs and digital health initiatives focused on nicotine dependence treatment across Canada.

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Reviewing existing methods of data visualization and implementing new, effective solutions for the program\xe2\x80\x99s data visualization according to best practices
  • Validation of software applications; user acceptance and beta testing; discovering and reporting program errors
  • Work with open source software, such as REDCap, including programming, finding and integrating external modules developed by others in the user communities for system additions or for new applications;
  • Write and maintain software development documentation;
  • Liaising with new and existing program implementers; engaging with program decision-makers
  • Conducting literature reviews and summarizing evidence into various formats (scientific papers, reports, briefs, proposals and presentations for diverse audience groups)
  • Designing project workflows and data collection tools (including surveys, clinical assessments and questionnaires)
  • Working with external vendors to support program implementation
  • Preparing proposal submissions to, and ensuring compliance with, CAMH\xe2\x80\x99s Research Ethics Board
Tracking project workplans, coordinating team meetings, completing project progress reports and other administrative and non-administrative duties may be involved, as required. This position is located at 1025 Queen St. W. with the option to work in a hybrid manner at the discretion of the manager and in accordance with organization policies.

Qualifications
The successful candidate must possess a Masters level degree in a health-related field, with two (2) years of relevant experience. The candidate will have familiarity with research-related processes and procedures as well as data visualization and data-capture system support.
  • Strong knowledge of data management across the research lifecycle, including creation, processing, analysis, preservation, access, and reuse of research data,
  • Knowledge of, or familiarity with, top open source programming languages, platforms and developer communities such as Java, Python, HTML-5, R, Ruby, and others,
  • Knowledge of software development cycles and validation,
  • Experience conducting literature reviews and knowledge of university library databases and reference management software,
  • Experience preparing research ethics applications,
  • Excellent organizational skills with high attention to detail and determined attitude towards ensuring accuracy and integrity,
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking skills,
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills,
  • Familiarity with project and workplan coordination; facilitating team meetings,
  • Ability to work effectively independently and collaboratively within a dynamic, multi-disciplinary team environment,
  • Bilingualism (French/English) and/or proficiency in a second language would be an asset.
  • Familiarity and/or experience with data piping, API integration and SQL programming is considered an asset but not mandatory for this position.
Vaccines (COVID-19 and others) are a requirement of the job unless you have an exemption on a medical ground pursuant to the Ontario Human Rights Code.

Please Note: This full-time, contract position (one year) is part of the OPSEU Bargaining Unit.

Salary Range: $33.59 - $45.31 per hour
