Compensation Range $4,688.67 - $6,754.00 CAD Monthly
The Compensation Range is the span between the minimum and maximum base salary for a position. The midpoint of the range is approximately halfway between the minimum and the maximum and represents an employee that possesses full job knowledge, qualifications and experience for the position. In the normal course, employees will be hired, transferred or promoted between the minimum and midpoint of the salary range for a job.

This is a one-year maternity leave replacement at 0.8 FTE (28hr/week).

Job Summary
The project coordinator helps coordinate various projects related to gynecological cancer research. The project coordinator responsibilities include coordinating data access requests, facilitating ethics applications, participate in project planning, keeping track of budgets and monitoring project progress.

Organizational Status
The incumbent will report to Principal Investigator Dr. Aline Talhouk, Assistant Professors in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of British Columbia (UBC). The employee will have space to work in Vancouver General Hospital Research Pavilion.

Work Performed
The Research coordinator is responsible for the following, in the context of personalized medicine in women\'s health:

  • Prepare and submit Data Access Requests to different data providers and facilitate the data collection from provincial and international sites
  • Oversee ethics applications submission, amendments and renewals and cooperate with Ethics committee and partner institutions to resolve any related issue
  • Ensure data management, storage to comply with ethical guidelines and data sharing and privacy agreements
  • Coordinate project activities and resources; track project budget and manage cost; monitor deliverables and project progress and help with drafts of agreement and contracts
  • Coordinate research team meetings and other research activities (e.g. participants recruitment, RedCap and MyCap data entry and extraction)
  • Work collaboratively with graduate students, team members and different stakeholders
  • Conduct literature searches and perform data synthesis and preliminary analyses
  • Coordinate the submission of grant applications and liaise with different stakeholders to ensure the application process is clear and that team members are made aware of due dates
  • Develop manuscripts, reports, abstracts and presentations for submission and/or presentations as needed

Consequence of Error/Judgement
Failure to maintain consistent and reliable communication between project team members may result in delay or quality of research activity, which in turn might impact international health, work quality, funding, and the reputation of OBGYN and UBC.

Supervision Received
Receives instructions during orientation and on subsequent new assignments. Meets at least once a week with PIs. Works highly independently under the supervision of PIs.

Supervision Given
May be required to supervise work-study students.

Minimum Qualifications
Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline. Minimum of two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Degree in Genomics or Public Health preferred

- Experience with the following is preferred: research experience including scientific writing, literature searches; knowledge of and experience with health projects (women\'s health would be a definite asset). - Ability to effectively use Microsoft Office suite at an intermediate level, including data analysis and display, and ability to use other basic data analytic programs is desirable
  • Ability to navigate the Internet for the purposes of research is required (e.g. PubMed, Web of Knowledge, UBC library and other relevant resources)
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
  • Ability to prioritize and work effectively under pressure to meet deadline
  • Ability to analyze problems, identify key information and issues, and effectively resolve
  • A clear thinker with ability to conceptualize processes with a sharp attention to detail
  • Ability to take initiative and exercise sound independent judgment within areas of responsibility and to initiate and follow up actions from brief instructions.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with PI, project managers, staff, volunteers, hospital foundations, and other parties as required
