POSITION SUMMARY

The Research Coordinator plans, coordinates, implements and evaluates key Knowledge Institute projects and initiatives. The Research Coordinator works with key informants and provincial stakeholders and draws on the latest research evidence to develop tools, resources, products and processes that will inform practice and policy across Ontario\xe2\x80\x99s community-based child and youth mental health/addictions sector. The incumbent will have demonstrated experience in evaluation and applied research coordination and project management; excellent communication skills (both verbal and written); excellent presentation and networking skills; and a demonstrated ability to develop strong partnerships with researchers, agency leaders, service providers, youth and/or family members to ensure the successful execution of projects and initiatives.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinates all aspects of Knowledge Institute-led research/evaluation and implementation projects. Duties include initial project planning, managing project logistics, building the appropriate team, consulting and engaging with partners and external stakeholders, implementing the project plan, overseeing research/evaluation activities (e.g., data collection, analysis, report writing and project evaluation). Project examples include policy papers and the implementation of their recommendations; evaluation projects and standards development; creation of products and resources to meet stakeholders\xe2\x80\x99 knowledge needs; etc.
  • Collaborates with research/evaluation/implementation project team members to develop/refine project goals and research/evaluation questions, create tools for data collection, oversee data collection, analyze results and produce project reports;
  • Ensures ongoing communication and engagement with project partners, stakeholders and project staff;
  • Coordinates meetings that bring together steering committees/groups including (but not limited to) researchers and child and youth mental health/addictions content experts, agency leaders, ministry representatives, families, youth, and project partners to provide advice and guidance on projects;
  • Liaises with provincial partners, content area experts, young people and families to develop and refine the Knowledge Institute\xe2\x80\x99s tools, resources and products associated with identified projects;
  • Assists in training on research and writing for more early career staff (including young people and research assistants);
  • Creates and maintains project files and relevant databases (e.g., Microsoft Dynamics CRM) for workload, tracking and performance measurement purposes;
  • Collaborates with reporting manager/director to maintain relevant project budgets;
  • With guidance and support from a senior, PhD trained staff/leadership team member, conducts literature reviews and environmental scans on complex child and youth mental health/addictions topics;
  • Produces knowledge products to meet information needs of Ontario\xe2\x80\x99s child and youth mental health/addictions sector (e.g., policy papers, research briefs, program scans and other research-related reports);
  • Represents the Knowledge Institute on research teams and knowledge mobilization committees;
  • Prepares publications, posters and presentations for external conferences; and
  • Contributes to building the capacity of child and youth mental health/addictions agency staff across the province to implement and evaluate evidence-informed service delivery.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Criminal Record Check (Essential)
  • Master\xe2\x80\x99s degree in psychology, social work, sociology or a related field (Essential)
  • Minimum 5+ years of research/implementation/evaluation experience within the child and youth community mental health/addictions sector, or related sectors (Essential)
  • Knowledge of the substance use and addictions literature (Preferred)
  • Demonstrated experience in knowledge mobilization within the child and youth community mental health and addictions sector or related sectors (Essential)
  • Demonstrated experience in engagement strategies, specifically youth and/or family engagement (Preferred)
  • Extensive experience with designing research/implementation projects, using both qualitative and quantitative data collection approaches analyses and associated tools (e.g., REDCap, Survey Monkey,
SPSS, NVivo) (Essential)
  • Familiarity with Tri-council ethical guidelines and processes (Essential)
  • Extensive experience writing research/project reports (Essential)
  • Superior skills in both academic and plain language writing (Essential)
  • Demonstrated skills in project management and organization (Essential)
  • Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team and engage in team-based problem-solving (Essential)
  • Ability to meet project timelines and prioritize a large volume of work in a setting with multiple, competing demands
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills (Essential)
  • Excellent organizational skills (Essential)
  • Excellent MS Office Skills (Essential)
  • Bilingualism (English/French) (Preferred)
