Cumming School of Medicine

invites applications for a

Research Coordinator

. This Full-time Fixed Term position is for approximately 12 months (based on length of grant funding), with the possibility of extension.


Reporting to the Principal Investigator.

Summary of Key Responsibilities

(job functions include but are not limited to):


Project Coordination

Collaborates on the design, preparation and presentation of study materials including study protocols, procedure manuals, SOPs, informed consent documents and study reports Works with project staff and stakeholders to implement and disseminate project applicable communications, presentations, publications and research findings Assists with writing project reports, technical research reports, and status reports Sets up and manages project meetings (including taking minutes, preparing meeting documentation and creating project presentations) Liaises and communicates with key stakeholder groups to promote awareness of the project Maintains accurate, timely, complete documentation and records Ensures projects adhere to ethical and privacy requirements Manages research protocols in preparation for IRB submission and prepare submissions to applicable ethics boards Maintains ongoing Ethics renewals, communication, and reporting Works with appropriate staff and University departments to assist researchers in setting up contracts/agreements for external vendors, persons of interest, and contractors in compliance with University policies Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of the position

Research Implementation, Conduct, Reporting, Evaluation

Implements study protocol, monitors study activity and updates investigators as appropriate Manages, monitors, and reports on project timelines, milestones and deliverables Ensures that all research related activities are carried out in accordance with the established protocol and standards in compliance with all applicable laws, regulations and policies Organizes quantitative research (ie: descriptive analyses) inclusive of planning, moderating, facilitating, collecting and sorting information, entering data, and data analysis. For more complex analyses, works with a statistical analyst to achieve study objectives Oversee the administration of the study (e.g. paying invoices, sourcing vendors, etc.) Assists with the development of materials, and supporting resources for the implementation and evaluation of the research activities

Qualifications / Requirements:



Minimum of a Master's degree in a relevant field (e.g. Community Health Sciences, Health Policy, Public Policy, Public Health, Economics) Quantitative research experience is strongly preferred: including use of administrative data, data preparation, basic statistical analyses (preference for those who have used R, SAS, or STATA Data Analysis Software) Strong knowledge of standard Office software applications (e.g. MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, OneDrive) Experience with academic reporting and presentation development is required Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to handle difficult situations in an objective consistent manner Demonstrated proficiency in budgeting, resource planning, and grant applications Demonstrated ability in professional writing, preparing reports and conducting literature reviews for the purpose of presentation and publication Able to work both independently and within a team Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills Effective communication and interpersonal skills Desire to learn and expand knowledge Comfortable learning and using project management tools, including Microsoft OneDrive and Teams Comfortable working with a diverse and geographically dispersed group of collaborators Knowledge of University policies and procedures an asset
