Job Summary
The primary focus of this position will be to provide research coordination for the next phase of a COVID-19 project assessing the vaccine intentions of pregnant people planned to deliver after the next rollout out of local COVID vaccines. The core part of the project is survey based and will involve recruitment through multiple platforms. There is a substudy built into the project which involves prospective enrollment of pregnant people planned to deliver at BC Women\xe2\x80\x99s hospital by a given date, to examine the passive transfer of antibodies from the vaccine to the infant.

Duties for this position will include building a new version of the study survey in REDCap, responding to participant queries about the survey though a dedicated email address, leading the recruitment for the prospective study through various social media outlets as well and through accessing local OB/Midwife providers as well as onsite in the Urgent Care Centre of BC Women\xe2\x80\x99s; conducting the study visits, and facilitating the collection of data and biological samples which will involve receiving calls after typical work hours if hospital staff have questions about the sample collection at delivery etc; ensuring study documentation is current and filed properly, submitting ethics amendments and annual renewals; preparing agendas and slides for national team meetings, reporting on the study at weekly RID meetings; posting important articles and links related to the program\xe2\x80\x99s projects as well as newly published manuscripts, etc. The Research Coordinator must be exceptionally detail-orientated and organized. They must be able to prioritize tasks to ensure that time-sensitive duties are completed in priority. This person must also be self-directed and able to excel in a team environment, as well as independently. This position will be a hybrid of onsite and remote work, however, when the work must occur onsite, attendance onsite is expected.

Organizational Status
The Research Coordinator reports to the Research Project Manager for the COVID suite of projects, and then to the Principal Investigator, and Senior Research Manager as required. This position will be based at BC Women\xe2\x80\x99s Hospital + Health Centre in Vancouver.

Work Performed

- Build, pilot test and launch an updated version of an existing REDCap database; respond as issues arise with the database and repair as needed; liaise with BCCHR REDCap team as needed for troubleshooting; act as point person for adding new team members to the database, assign or modify role assignments for team members from all sites, unsuspending and deleting accounts as needed.
- Work with the team biostatistician to review periodic database reports and facilitate the resolution of queries with study sites.
- Manage study participant communication via a dedicated email address; directing these communications to other team members as needed to provide resolution.
- Prepare and submit ethics amendments and annual renewals.
- Provide regular updates, including a monthly report regarding data collection status and feedback about recruitment procedures to Research Project Manager, Principal Investigator, Postdoc, and team.
- Organize schedules and room bookings for internal and national team meetings; includes preparation of the agenda and slide decks.
- Assist with knowledge translation activities, including the preparation of manuscripts, conference proceedings, and community outreach initiatives such as social media management.
- Assist with the preparation and submission of abstracts, manuscripts, and (poster) presentations.
- Oversee the work of volunteers on the study as needed

- Ensures timely notification of issues/problems to the Research Project Manager and Principal Investigator

- Carries out any other related duties as required in keeping with the qualifications and requirements of positions in this classification.

Consequence of Error/Judgement
The Research Coordinator is required to conduct all research activities in an ethical manner and with adherence to the Tri-Council Policy Statement concerning Ethical Conduct for Research Involving Humans. Any procedures or data recorded as part of the research must be accurate and must accurately reflect the work performed. Strict confidentiality of all study files, participants or and data, information must be adhered to. All activities involving participants are accountable to the Senior Research Manager, Principal Investigator, the Department Head.

Supervision Received
Many aspects of work are decided and then allocated in a team setting, but are then expected to be done independently, while other aspects will be done under the supervision of the Research Project Manager, Senior Research Manager or Principal Investigator. The Coordinator will attend weekly study meetings and program meetings with the full RID team.

Supervision Given
May oversee and direct the work of one or two employees/volunteers at lower classifications in which case they are responsible for the accuracy, production, and control of the work unit.

Minimum Qualifications
Completion of a university degree in a relevant discipline or technical program and a minimum four years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Some positions may require a graduate degree.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with REDCap databases, database creation and database management are strongly preferred.

Experience in providing research support in a similar clinical research environment would be preferred. Strong knowledge of scientific terminology in the health sector is preferred. Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision is essential.
Ability to support a fast-moving, obstetric study with modest after hours requirements, identify problem areas, and provide appropriate and effective recommendations and/or solutions.

Experience with data management; Ability to analyse and interpret data would be an asset.

Effective time-management skills with ability to organize and prioritize duties is important.

Ability to maintain accuracy and attention to detail.

Phlebotomy skills /experience is an asset

Experience with manuscript preparation would be an asset.

Ability to effectively use standard computer software at an intermediate level (e.g., Outlook, MS Word, MS Excel, PowerPoint).
