A grant-funded research associate position with an emphasis on platelet biology is available beginning March 1, 2023 in the Centre for Blood Research at the University of British Columbia (Vancouver, BC, Canada) for 1 year with the possibly of extension. The position requires expertise in cell biology, molecular biology, and animal work.

Required scientific background:

• A PhD degree in life sciences (e.g. biochemistry, cell biology, microbiology, immunology, or other closely-related discipline).

• Proficiency with the following techniques is essential: Mammalian cell culture; Immunocytochemistry and confocal microscopy; Flow cytometry; Methods for studying protein/protein interactions (e.g. immunoprecipitation, pull-down assays, and Western blotting).
• Experience with mouse work, including complex breeding schemes involving transgenic mouse strains, is essential. Preference will be given to applicants experienced with in vivo murine disease models.
• Experience working with human and/or mouse platelets is an asset. Preference will be given to applicants with a strong background in platelet signalling.

Additional requirements:

• Strong interpersonal skills with experience in setting and achieving goals.
• Ability to assist undergraduate and graduate students.
• Ability to arrange and present data using computer software.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

• Strong verbal and written English communication and organizational skills.
