Position Summary:
  • The position will involve all aspects of collaborative research with Professor Levin and members of his laboratory on axon pathophysiology and therapy, particularly with respect to optic nerve disease.
  • His/her role will include the implementation of reproducible models of traumatic optic neuropathy (TON) models in rats, and will work closely with others, in order to improve reproducibility.
  • The applicant must have substantial expertise with animal handling, optic nerve injury, drug delivery, quantification of retinal ganglion cell somas, and data acquisition and analysis.
  • The applicant will work closely with a Professor Levin and other members of his laboratory, including students. The research associate will also participate in other academic activities, such as laboratory meetings, journal clubs, presentations at local scientific conferences, preparation and revision of manuscripts for publication in scientific journals.
  • The applicant must have excellent skills in English and/or French.


Qualifications:
PhD; experience with rat optic nerve surgery. Ideally knowledge of McGill animal care procedures; whole mounts of retina; general lab experience.
