Description

The Corteva Agriscience Lethbridge Research Station is focused on corn hybrid testing and development for the grain and silage market. We use modern field research and agriculture equipment for planting, spraying, data collection, and harvesting our plots. We lease land from multiple farmers around the Southern Alberta region to execute our trials. Our data is collected using remote sensing and manual plot walks.

The successful applicant will assist with both administrative and field activities. Duties include, but are not limited to, handling administrative work on safety programs, invoicing and accounts payable, contractor management, collecting data in the field, and drone data collection.
Our peak workload seasons are late April through mid-May, late July through early August, and October and some overtime may be required during these periods.
All necessary training will be provided.

Responsibilities:

Lead and maintain safety program implementation with the assistance and direction of safety personnel at other sites within the company.

Create and modify operational procedures.

Lead and manage day to day administrative duties (accounts payable, contractors, etc.)

Assist staff with experiment planning and execution as needed. This may include planting preparation, data collection (both drone and in-field), sampling, and harvest.

Potential to assist with field equipment maintenance and operation.

Qualifications

Requirements:
What expertise have you grown? What do you bring to the table?

Bachelor\'s degree or Associate Diploma from a post-secondary institution. Education in an area of science or agriculture is preferred.

Computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook, Teams).

Administrative and safety training and skills would be an asset.

Experience with field crop research or agricultural production would be an asset.

Experience piloting a UAV would be an asset.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to follow standard operating procedures and safety protocols.

Detail-oriented, time management and organizational skills.

Computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook) and the ability to readily learn new software.

Self-motivation and ability to initiate projects, improvements, decisions, and problem solving.

Ability to work well independently or with a team and to communicate effectively with team members.

Extended hours and occasional weekend hours may be required during peak periods (May, July, and October).

Valid driver\'s license and satisfactory driving record. Field work may involve driving to sites several hours away.

Outdoor work during the growing season is required. May be required to do physical lifting and work in varying ergonomic environments.

Previous research work is an asset.
