Research Associate - Medical Physics

A full time (40 hours/week) Research Associate position is available at the University of British Columbia, in the laboratory of Dr. Christina Haston. The project is to manage and complete a series of in vivo experiments to test a compound for capacity to prevent radiation-induced toxicity. The incumbent is expected to conduct and document research, develop and maintain protocols, participate in discussions with industrial collaborators, and mentor students and technicians on the project under the supervision of Dr. Haston. This position available immediately for a 1-year term with the possibility of extension pending budget availability. Further information on the Department is available at . The candidate must have a solid scientific and technical animal research background with excellent written and oral communication, interpersonal as well as organizational skills.

• Ph.D. in experimental medicine, radiation biology, immunology, or similar discipline
• Experience and a strong track record with mouse models of tissue injury
• Expertise and hands-on experience in animal studies, including all aspects of design, handling, tissue collection, histology, and analyses are essential
• Experience with statistical analyses and scientific writing; previous experience with grant writing is an asset
