Faculty of Veterinary Medicine

invites applications for a

Research Associate

. This Full-time Fixed Term position is for approximately 24 months (based on length of grant funding), with the possibility of extension.


Reporting directly to the Project Manager, the Research Associate will play a key role in supporting the successful execution of this project.


This newly funded project is conducted on behalf of the Government of Alberta at the University of Calgary to develop and launch a digital antimicrobial stewardship (AMS) campaign and toolkit for primary care prescribers.

Summary of Key Responsibilities

(job functions include but are not limited to):


Research Duties:

Prepare and submit ethics board applications Conduct a rapid literature review Develop and administer surveys for data collection Conduct data analysis to support research objectives Perform environmental scans to assess research landscapes Examine and extract data from Electronic Medical Records (EMRs) Design and implement pilot studies or evaluations Engage and collaborate with key clinical actors and stakeholders This role requires exceptional attention to detail for accurate data collection and strong writing skills for preparing research analyses and reports Ability to travel off-site to as needed (own vehicle preferred)

Administrative Duties:

In collaboration with the Project Manager, schedule and coordinate project-related meetings, including preparing agendas, organizing logistics, and sending calendar invites to participants Record accurate and comprehensive meeting minutes, and ensure timely distribution to relevant stakeholders Organize and manage project communications such as mail-outs, regular updates, and survey distributions, ensuring timely and consistent outreach Maintain well-organized project documentation and records, including tracking deliverables, timelines, and correspondence, in close collaboration with the Project Manager Provide regular updates and reports to the Project Manager on meeting outcomes, progress on communications, and documentation status to support informed decision-making and project continuity

Qualifications / Requirements:



A post-secondary degree in a health-related field, e.g., public health, epidemiology, nursing, or a related discipline A minimum of five years of experience in clinical data collection within research or quality improvement settings Proven experience in setting up pilot studies or evaluations and conducting environmental scans Strong background in survey development, administration, and data analysis Proficiency in Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems with experience in data extraction and analysis Familiarity with ethics board submission processes and regulatory requirements High level of attention to detail to ensure data accuracy and proper documentation Strong writing skills for preparing research analyses and reports Excellent organizational skills to maintain project documentation and records Experience in scheduling and coordinating meetings, taking minutes, and managing communications Ability to oversee mail-outs, updates, and survey contacts Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage with key clinical stakeholders Highly self-motivated with exceptional time management skills and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision
