SALARY RANGE: $34.46 - $43.08 (commensurate with experience and consistent with the UHN Compensation Policy)

STATUS: Temporary Full-time (approx. 2 years)

University Health Network (UHN) is a research hospital affiliated with the University of Toronto and a member of the Toronto Academic Health Science Network. The scope of research and complexity of cases at UHN have made it a national and international source for discovery, education and patient care. Research across UHN\'s five research institutes spans the full spectrum of diseases and disciplines, including cancer, cardiovascular sciences, transplantation, neural and sensory sciences, musculoskeletal health, rehabilitation sciences, and community and population health.

The Research Coordinator position in General Surgery Research will work closely with the Principal Investigators and a small interdisciplinary team. Duties of this position will include: participating partially or fully in initial project design, setting of research goals, selection and development of procedures; maintenance of study records, both electronic and hard copies, ensuring that all records are thorough and up to date; responsible for identifying and screening potential participants for studies in clinics, file review, including supervision of research personnel recruiting and consenting participants; preparing research ethics approval applications for new studies, maintaining approval status for ongoing studies including writing amendments; managing research finances including paying invoices, submitting monthly statements, credit card balancing and supporting documentation; additional study-related administrative tasks; may assist in the interpretation of results and preparation of material for presentation, publication, and/or grants; assesses literature in the field of study; suggest and implement new guidelines and procedure to improve the efficiency and conduct of the research project.

Qualifications

  • Masters\xe2\x80\x99 degree in related discipline
  • Two (2) years\xe2\x80\x99 related experience, or Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree with five (5) years\xe2\x80\x99 experience
  • Comprehensive knowledge in the ethical conduct of research with human subjects
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong scientific writing and presentation skills proven through publications and presentations
  • Demonstrated record of interdisciplinary collaboration
  • Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint) STATS software
  • Experience with UHN, RFS research administration and finances, grant services an asset but not required
