Position Overview

The Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology in the Cumming School of Medicine invites applications for a Research Assistant. This Part-time Fixed Term position is for approximately 12 months (based on length of grant funding), with the possibility of extension.

Reporting to the Principal Investigator.

This position is to provide administrative support a research program in women\'s health.

Position Description

Summary of Key Responsibilities (job functions include but are not limited to):

Research

Provides administrative support with manuscript formatting, referencing with Medeley and submission for peer reviewed publication

Provides administrative support with respect to data collection & research integrity

Organize follow-up for research participants at scheduled follow-up dates

Contact participants by phone and email as needed

Assure that research records are kept up to date

Enter research proposals into the IRISS Ethics system

Project Management

Take responsibility for successful completion of tasks assigned by the team by the deadlines specified

Communicate with the team members if assignments need further clarification

Monitor and control the schedule of follow up for research participants enrolled in studies

Qualifications / Requirements:

A Bachelor\'s degree in Science, Health, Psychology or a related field

Minimum of 12 months experience in health research

Must be familiar with Mendeley for manuscript referencing, including familiarity with multiple citation formats and the workflow for submitting a manuscript for peer reviewed publication in a research journal

Experience with REDCap for study creation and study tracking purposes

Experience with IRISS, the online application portal for health ethics at the CSM

Comfort talking to research participants by phone, and following up by email

Clear communication skills

Ability to manage the flow of study participants and be responsible for having assessments completed thoroughly and on time

Organize and maintain all research patient records according to research policies and guidelines

Ability to pay invoices and process journal corrections in the U of C finance system

Data capturing, data processing, and data entry into an established computer database

Provide effective and professional assistance to patient and staff inquiries in a courteous, timely and professional manner, demonstrating friendly, complete, competent customer service and support at all times and in all situations

Ability to create written and visual documents using programs such as Word, Excel and Canva

Must have demonstrated communication, organization, innovation, and interpersonal skills

Must have basic skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint)

Must be able to schedule Zoom meetings
