. This Fixed Term Recurring Part-time position is for approximately 6 months (based on length of grant funding), with the possibility of extension.
Reporting to the Senior Program Manager and Principal Investigator, the Research Assistant will support the execution of research protocols and programs within RHYYC.
Recurring Part-time employees are hourly employees engaged to perform work on an irregular schedule.
Summary of Key Responsibilities
(job functions include but are not limited to):
Implementing research activities including data collection, cleaning, analysis, and knowledge translation activities in consultation with the Principal Investigator(s), Project Coordinator, and the study team
Support the development, submission, initiation, and maintenance of research projects through drafting research protocols, preparing ethics submissions and maintaining valid and updated ethics approvals
Contribute to various knowledge translation activities, including writing abstracts and scientific manuscripts suitable for publication, presenting posters, and delivering oral presentations at national and international conferences
Provide general support to the RHYYC program to facilitate the progression of the RHYYC vision. Activities include patient engagement, community outreach, advocacy and awareness-raising
Qualifications / Requirements:
A bachelor's degree in a health-related field
1 year of academic research experience with a preference for research in the fields of health, refugee health and/or global health
Experience working with diverse populations is an asset
Knowledge translation experience (e.g., abstracts, posters, oral presentations, and writing scientific manuscripts) is an asset
Experience in the development and management of large data sets is an asset
Experience with statistical software packages is an asset
Experience working with AI is an asset
Research skills, analysis skills, communication skills, writing skills, problem solving skills and interpersonal skills required
Knowledge of the scientific method, health services research, and the research process is required
Resourceful, innovative, creative, strategic, problem solves
Good judgment and concern for detail and accuracy
Ability to receive direction, collaborate with others in setting goals, and work effectively in teams to achieve agreed upon goals
Ability to work independently and within a team
Ability to effectively engage with stakeholders
Computer skills (Microsoft Word, Teams, PowerPoint and Excel)
Understanding of refugee health, and refugee-related research is an asset
Proficiency in a second language is an asset
Knowledge of RHYYC program objectives and the refugee health landscape within local and global contexts are assets
