Full time (35 hours/week), 6-month contract May 1 - October 31, 2023 with possibility of 6 month extension.
Remote, located within Canada (must reside in Canada)
Salary range: $77K-$85K (annual), commensurate with experience

The CCSMH\'s mandate is to promote the mental health of older adults by connecting people, ideas and resources. We are a multi-sectoral and interdisciplinary coalition with over 2,500 members representing clinicians, administrators, researchers, older adults and caregivers. We believe that mental illness is not a normal consequence of aging. All seniors have the right and deserve to receive services and care that promotes their mental health and responds to their needs.

We are hiring a Research Assistant to support the development and the wide dissemination of national clinical practice guidelines related to behavioural and psychological symptoms of dementia. Our objectives for these guidelines are to provide practical and evidence-based recommendations to guide clinicians across Canada in providing high quality mental health care to older adults.

In this role you will work closely with a project coordinator, a working group consisting of seniors\' mental health researchers and clinicians, knowledge brokers, and with project partners, persons with lived experience, and external experts. The position is remote and available to candidates located in and eligible to work in Canada.

Responsibilities encompass project coordination, assisting with writing scientific and plain language communications, and meaningful stakeholder engagement, and include:

  • Having an in-depth understanding of the project timeline, monitoring progress and supporting team members to meet their deadlines
  • Organizing project logistics including meeting preparation and taking minutes, maintaining project documentation, fulfilling reporting requirements and drafting email correspondence
  • Helping to maintain collaborative relationships within the project team and with our external partners through sharing of information/documentation and regular communication
  • Liaising with the CCSMH steering group and knowledge translation team
  • Developing presentation material for working groups, external review groups and stakeholders
  • Assisting with report writing and integrating consultation feedback
  • Working effectively with software applications including word-processing, spreadsheets, citation databases and project planning/communication tools

You will relish being at the centre of the project and a key support for team members. You will also need:
  • A Master\'s degree in a relevant field, including but not limited to health sciences, health communication or management; or a Bachelor\'s degree in a related field with
2 years of relevant work experience and a certification in project/information management.
  • Fluency in English; French language skills would be considered a strong asset and we encourage bilingual candidates to apply.
  • Competence in MS Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and Excel
  • Experience in citation management systems
  • An understanding of knowledge synthesis methods (systematic reviews or guideline development) is an asset
  • High level attention to detail
  • Excellent written communication (including email) and report writing skills
  • High level interpersonal and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and initiative to solve problems independently
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team, and to build working relationships with external partners and stakeholders
  • Ability to work remotely with appropriate space, privacy and internet access to do so (laptop provided)
