Duration: Five (5) months
The "Enhancing Faculty Evaluation via Impact Assessment Framework" project is novel to WCH and assesses impact metrics that go beyond bibliometrics, which fail to accurately and equitably evaluate scientific impact. Such biased measures can result in the devaluation of scientists who offer diverse contributions to science and human health, beyond publications. The project will involve a department-wide review of evaluation processes, and an opportunity to standardize evaluation practices while centring on impact in the annual evaluation of scientists.
Summary of Duties, but not limited to:

  • Conduct a landscape scan of existing practices and frameworks, assessing the current state and identifying best practices and evidence to inform design
  • Plan and coordinate a pilot testing of the framework, ensuring milestones, deliverables, and stakeholder feedback are captured
  • Support the design and management of a larger validity study to evaluate the framework, including methodology, data collection, and reporting.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with researchers, faculty, leadership, and external partners to support adoption and collaboration
  • Develop and deliver training materials, workshops, and guidance to support awareness, understanding, and use of the framework once launched
  • Assist with submission of manuscripts to scientific journals - may involve creating tables, figures, proof reading, preparation of cover letter, coordinating documents to sign, electronic submission
  • Completes data entry and quality control ensuring the accuracy and integrity of data collection; may investigate missing or invalid data and prepare data sets
  • Communicates with team to provide status updates and next steps
  • May assist team members with preparing materials for proposals, progress reports, presentations, and publications
  • May assist in the analysis of qualitative and quantitative data and the interpretation of results

Qualifications:
  • Undergraduate degree in a related field or one year of equivalent experience required
  • Some experience in a health research setting preferred
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Work efficiently under pressure with strong judgement and decision-making skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Well-developed interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Mastery of MS Office applications including Excel, Outlook, Access and Word an asset
  • Demonstrated record of good performance and acceptable attendance will be considered as part of the selection criteria
  • Professional behaviour and communication that meets the standards of the professional regulatory college or association, as applicable, and the standards of Women's College Hospital
  • This position plays a critical role in acting as an advocate for safety and will demonstrate principles, practices and processes that will optimize a safe environment for all
