An integrated, collaborative, interdisciplinary vaccine research team, the Canadian Center for Vaccinology (CCfV) is committed to developing, implementing and evaluating vaccine technologies and vaccines for infectious diseases that have a significant impact on Canadian and global health and training experts in these critical and evolving fields. Job Summary


Reporting to the Director of Finance, CCfV, the Research and Innovation Business Development Officer The Research and Innovation Business Development Officer leads the business development and partnership activities that support research innovation and economic growth within the Faculty of medicine, with a focus on initiatives led by the Canadian Center for Vaccinology (CCfV) and GMP BioLabs East.


Key Responsibilities


Conduct market research to identify trends, funding opportunities, and potential partnerships within the vaccine research and broader biomedical innovation sectors. Develop and maintain strategic relationships with academic institutions, industry leaders, and government agencies to support long-term collaboration and growth. Prepare compelling business proposals and support funding efforts through grant applications, donor engagement, and presentations to potential partners or investors. Oversee financial planning and management for business development activities, including tracking budgets, managing donor funds, and ensuring financial accountability. Collaborate with internal and external teams to support contract negotiations, manage grant compliance, and align research and innovation efforts across departments. Create and deliver reports that communicate progress, outcomes, and impact to institutional stakeholders, governance bodies, and funding partners.

Required Qualifications


Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as biomedical sciences, business administration, or financial management with minimum three years of experience in business development, contract negotiation, grant writing, and financial oversight--ideally within an academic, healthcare, or research environment. Solid understanding of the biomedical or life sciences sector, including research processes, regulatory considerations, and industry trends. Strong verbal and written communication and skills. Excellent organization skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a dynamic environment. Ability to work independently as well as an effective team player with ability to build collaborative relationships. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, SharePoint, and relevant business or information management systems.



Assets


A graduate degree in a related area, particularly in biomedical research, business, or innovation management. Previous experience working with donors, sponsors, or external stakeholders. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
