Reporting to the Director of the Applied Research Centre (ARC), this position is responsible for fostering and developing relations with business, government, and non-profit communities, as well as strengthening relationships within Langara College. The role involves building awareness and profile of Langara's ARC throughout British Columbia, curating external relationships, achieving revenue and project goals, and supporting various aspects of business development.
This position will be dedicated to building ARC's life sciences and bioinformatics portfolio, and as such, the successful candidate will have worked extensively in life sciences or closely related area and have an established network of relevant SME's and/or non-profit entities.
Qualifications Required:
Education & Experience:• Bachelor's Degree in life sciences or business related field.
• Minimum three (3) years of related experience in business development, in the life sciences or related field.
• Experience using Microsoft Dynamics (preferred), Salesforce, HubSpot, Zoho, or related CRM software.
• Experience creating appropriate content for and managing institutional social media channels.
• Demonstrated ability to speak confidently, eloquently, and knowledgeably in small group and public settings, including with technical/scientific authenticity.
• Strong literacy and numeracy skills.
• Demonstrated track record of creating business plans and implementing new initiatives.
• In-depth knowledge of the post-secondary system in British Columbia.
Skills & Abilities:• Superior ability to communicate and deal effectively with others, providing clear and accurate information, both verbally, writing, and through presentations.
• Strong organization, and administrative skills to achieve strategic objectives.
• Ability to establish good working relationships and excel in a team environment.

Working Conditions:• Must be willing to work flexible hours, as required (for example, attending conferences and networking events outside regular business hours).
