Job Description


The Geriatric Mental Health Services (GMHS) is dedicated to the provision of specialized, inter-professional assessment, treatment, consultation, and follow-up services to older persons with mental illness and addiction. GMHS has a strong research focus component, aiming primarily to enhance understanding of the variability of treatment responses in older persons. Enabling tailored approaches to care for this population with medication and other treatments. Such approaches can then enhance treatment efficacy and reduce adverse experiences in the care of late life mental health disorders.

Position Description:
GMHS is currently seeking two full-time Research Analysts for one (1) year contracts. In this position, your role will include a number of research responsibilities, such as the recruitment of study participants from outpatient clinics, administering assessments, and maintaining subject clinical records. You will liaise with treating psychiatrists, and conduct and score neuropsychological tests, structured interviews, and clinical and functional assessments scales with a focus on the assessment of older adults. Additionally, you will be required to assist in screening and consenting of eligible research subjects, scheduling human subjects\xe2\x80\x99 interviews; updating the program\xe2\x80\x99s research database; conducting searches of electronic resources; as well as preparing data for presentations and peer-reviewed research papers. Within these functions, you may also assist with scheduling and preparing for subject\xe2\x80\x99s laboratory and MRI visits and will accompany subjects to these visits. You will provide regular updates as well as other related duties including maintaining subject records and study logs. You will also create study tools, prepare regulatory submissions, maintain regulatory documentation, and summarize data for progress reports. Other research related administrative duties may also be required. This position is located at 1025 Queen Street West.

Qualifications:

The successful candidates must possess:

  • An Honours Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s Degree in Psychology, neuroscience or related field.
  • One year of relevant research and clinical experience with individuals and/or families with mental health issues.
  • Experience working with persons with dementia, mild cognitive impairment, depression, or with difficult patient populations is an asset.
  • Experience in administration of neuropsychological assessments and clinical rating scales is an asset (MoCA, MMSE, NPI-C, CGIC, MADRS, CDR, along with caregiver specific interviews/assessments)
  • Experience submitting regulator documents including submissions of study related materials (e.g. protocol amendments, Serious Adverse Events reports) and communicating with local Research Ethics Board and Health Canada would be an asset.
  • Knowledge in reporting to funding agencies such as NIH and CIHR is an asset.
  • The ability to work effectively in a variety of settings with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to multi-task are required.
  • Knowledge of PC software skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, Access, PowerPoint, and Excel), Internet search engines, and online data capture software is required.
  • Bilingualism (French/English) and/or proficiency in a second language would be an asset.
Vaccines (COVID-19 and others) are a requirement of the job unless you have an exemption on a medical ground pursuant to the Ontario Human Rights Code.

Please Note: This full-time, contract (1 year) position is part of the OPSEU Bargaining Unit.

Salary Range: $25.03 - $33.38
