Job Description


The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health is seeking a part-time, contract (12 months) Research Analyst to support work within the Azrieli Adult Neurodevelopmental Centre, specifically with studies looking at neurophysiological biomarkers in the brains of autistic adults. The Azrieli Adult Neurodevelopmental Centre is the first research and education centre in Canada dedicated to improving care for adults with neurodevelopmental disabilities and mental health challenges. The Centre\'s efforts are organized around four pillars - research excellence, clinical innovation, education and training, and knowledge exchange. Currently, the centre is actively involved in research activities related to the brain stimulation studies in autistic adults using transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS), electroencephalography (EEG) or magnetoencephalography (MEG) and repetitive TMS (rTMS). The ultimate goal is to translate findings from these studies into targeted treatments for autism-related challenges, including executive function, sensory, and motor difficulties.In this position, you will be primarily responsible for:

  • Completing resting-state and/or task-related EEG/MEG and TMS-EEG signal processing (coding) and associated analysis;
  • Coordinating TMS-EEG and rTMS sessions with the Temerty Centre staff at CAMH;
  • Applying and thoroughly following brain stimulation/monitoring protocols;
  • Liaising with treating psychiatrists and investigators to conduct and score neuropsychological tests and clinical and functional assessment scales with enrolled participants;
  • Assisting in the screening and consenting of eligible participants, scheduling and preparing for participant visits and/or interviews, and accompanying them to these visits (if needed);
  • Conducting thorough searches of electronic resources, and preparing data for presentations and peer-reviewed research papers;
  • Managing subject records, databases and study logs as per regulatory guidelines;
  • Overseeing data collection, entry ,exporting, cleaning and analysis;
  • Creating study tools, preparing regulatory submissions for Research Ethics Board, maintaining regulatory documentation, and summarizing data for progress reports; and
  • Other administrative, research and evaluation activities as required.

This position is located at the 1025 Queen Street West site.The successful candidate must have a Bachelor\'s Degree in Psychology, neuroscience or related degree combined with one (1) year of relevant clinical research experience.
  • Prior experience with conducting brain stimulation/monitoring protocols is required.
  • Previous experience completing resting-state and task-related EEG/MEG signal processing, writing codes for EEG/MEG signal processing, and TMS-EEG signal processing is required.
  • Experience with studies that include MRI\'s is an asset.
  • Proficiency with REDCap, Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, and database software packages is essential.
  • Prior research experience, specifically with writing codes and conducting analysis using Matlab, SPSS, Python, and conducting literature reviews, preparing academic posters, and journal articles is essential.
  • Experience with (quantitative/qualitative) data collection and analysis. .
  • Demonstrate strong communication (oral/written/conversational) skills.
  • Possess strong analytical thinking skills, and can exercise initiative and good judgment.
  • Superior organizational skills with high attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and integrity in all work while meeting project deadlines and requirements.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills along with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders, study investigators, co-researchers, and within a dynamic inter-professional team environment.
  • Previous experience working on a Health Canada regulated study is an asset.
  • Prior research or service experience with autistic adults and/or or adults with developmental disabilities is an asset.
  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse population.
  • Bilingualism (French/English) and/or proficiency in a second language is an asset.
