This is a unpaid casual volunteer position

A great opportunity to learn about exotic animals, their care, husbandry, personalities and more! Make a difference in the life of some deserving animals who often get overlooked.

DVRR is seeking a reliable and punctual volunteer for routine cleaning and treatment of the animals every second Saturday at 2pm and occasionally on call, though can vary depending on needs of the rescue. A typical shift on a routine day lasts anywhere from 30 minutes to 2 hours on busy days, rare occasions it can be a 3 hour shift. These are scheduled with as much notice as possible but can come down to a handful of hours' notice infrequently. Training period will consist of every week for 4 weeks until training is complete.

Duties range from holding animals, to cleaning enclosures, sanitizing equipment, treating animals and routine upkeep for the rescue. Interested parties MUST be comfortable with all sizes and manners of snakes and lizards. We work with injured and neglected animals that come from bad situations and with animal waste removal. Selected applicants will be trained in DVRR policies and procedures that must be followed. If you are uncomfortable with these requirements this may not be the position for you. Volunteers must have transport however we are located close to 7-11. Our home-based operation does have dog/cat allergies to be considered.

Due to the nature and size of animals we work with, we are looking for sixteen and above applicants, though are happy to discuss with slightly younger applicants if reliability, consistency and maturity are established. All volunteers will be required to sign a Non-disclosure agreement and waiver. Parental signatures are required for younger applicants.
