As a Reporter/Editor, your primary objective is to perform reporting and editorial assignments related to the gathering and presentation of program material for all our media platforms, audio, video, digital and social.The North is a place some of us are fortunate enough to call home, a place of culture, tradition, heart-wrenching challenges, perseverance and innovation. You will have demonstrated success in your role by gathering and reporting information from various sources, analyzing facts and information, drawing conclusions, and raising issues requiring further investigation. You understand the need to work with a tight deadline. You will appear regularly on air, doing live news hits, in-studio debriefs, and short documentaries. You\xe2\x80\x99ll be expected to contribute ideas, provide program content, write scripts for news, daily shows and for CBC North\xe2\x80\x99s website.You\xe2\x80\x99re innovative and champion new story treatments and new workflows, and will help create a diverse range of content on our audio, video, digital and social platforms. You\xe2\x80\x99re not afraid to take creative risks, and you inspire others to do the same.You will also, as required, edit material produced by others, present information and/or analysis on air in a variety of formats, and perform other production or administrative tasks associated with the smooth functioning of the newsroom, program unit or station. Your work will be governed by CBC\'s journalistic and broadcasting policy and protocols. It\xe2\x80\x99s about what we create together.We are looking for a candidate with the following:A strong, demonstrated understanding of the Yukon and pan-Northern political and cultural landscape and a demonstrated aptitude to learn and listen.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Openness to new ideas and approachesInitiative, flexibility, creativity and curiosity.Experience with daily programing and the ability to respond to the pressures of breaking newsComfort and confidence with the demands and needs of a multi-platform production hubDemonstrated ability to use social media and other resources to build contacts and sources and to do outreach.Strong organizational skills; ability to handle a variety of functions quickly and efficiently and meet multiple deadlines on multiple platforms.Strong presentation skills for broadcast and an aptitude for live reporting.Experience in booking interview guests, developing lines of questioning, writing focused introductions, preparing and writing recorded audio segments.Ability to interact with the public on the phone, online and in person.Ability to travel within Northern Canada on assignment.Ability to work flexible hours and overtime, is required.A post-secondary degree or equivalent combination of education and experience along with three years of experience relevant to journalism is during which the candidate would gain exposure to daily journalism, audio and video technology, and social mediaValid driver\xe2\x80\x99s license and a driving record that meets the minimum requirements of CBC/Radio-Canada\xe2\x80\x99s insurance company..Assets:Experience in shooting and editing video/mobile footage. Experience in broadcast writing as well as writing for the web.
