Job Description

We are expanding! Long established Rental Department for Invermere Home Hardware Building Centre requires an experienced small engine mechanic. We specialize in tool and equipment rentals for home owners, contractors and trades in the Valley.

- Assisting customers with equipment selection, providing instructions on proper usage, and addressing any questions or concerns.

- Ensuring all rental equipment is safe and adheres to safety regulations.

- Maintaining accurate records of rental transactions, repairs, part orders, shop services and inventory.

- Cleaning, inspecting and preparing rental equipment for customer use.

- Performing routine maintenance, minor repairs and diagnostics on rental equipment.

- Servicing small engine repairs on equipment such as lawn mowers, chainsaws, generators and compressors for customers.

- Sharpening of knives, skates, chainsaw chains, lawn mower blades & garden tools. Repairing window and door screens.

- Monitoring equipment inventory, tracking returns and ensuring sufficient stock.

- Building BBQ's, Lawn mowers & Wheelbarrows for the store during winter months

- Maintaining a clean and organized rental area, including snow removal and other custodial duties as needed.

Required Skills

- Understanding of basic mechanical principles and ability to use tools.

- Ability to interact with customers in a friendly and helpful manner.

- Knowledgeable in the operation of Microsoft Excel, Word & Outlook.

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to clearly explain usage and safety procedures.

- Be able to diagnose and troubleshoot equipment issues.

- Must be able to complete multiple tasks at a time, by prioritizing tasks and shifting priorities as needed.

- Required to stand for extended periods of time, lift heavy equipment, and perform physically demanding tasks.

- Accuracy completing paperwork and maintaining inventory records is essential.

Pay: From $20.00 per hour
