Purpose & Summary



The Remote Communities Manager provides leadership and oversight of Loaves & Fishes' operations from Woss to Haida Gwaii. This role is based in Port Hardy. As the regional manager, this role ensures smooth operations, cultivates strong community relationships, supervises the Harvest Staff and Volunteers and represents Loaves & Fishes publicly.

Reporting Structure



Reports to: Director of Operations

Supervises: Harvest Lead, other Harvest staff, and Harvest volunteers

Key Responsibilities



Operations Oversight:



- Ensure food donations are picked up, sorted, stored, and distributed according to policies.

- Oversee allocation of food to individuals, households, and partner agencies according to policies.

- Coordinate logistics for deliveries across the North Island and Central Coast of BC.

- Manage the Harvest facility, thrift store operations, vehicles, and equipment.

- Implement Loaves and Fishes Health and Safety programs.

Leadership & Staff Support:



- Directly supervise the Harvest Lead, providing clear priorities, coaching, and support.

- Ensure operational duties are executed at a high standard.

- Schedule and supervise staff and volunteers, ensuring appropriate training and compliance.

Community Engagement & Representation:



- Build and maintain partnerships with local agencies, Indigenous communities, and volunteers.

- Represent Loaves & Fishes at public and fundraising events.

- Support volunteer intake, training, appreciation, and outreach activities.

Collaboration & Reporting:



- Participate in weekly management team meetings via teams. Travel to Nanaimo at least every 60 days to participate in person.

- Participate in Quarterly meetings with management team in person.

- Maintain communication with the Director of Operations, Client Services Manager, Volunteer Manager, and Director of Philanthropy and Revenue Generation.

- Prepare reports and updates on remote operations.

Qualifications:



- Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills- written and verbal.

- Experience managing staff/volunteers in a community or non-profit setting.

- Operational competence (warehousing, logistics, equipment use).

- Respect for cultural diversity and Indigenous partnerships.

- Strong use of computer systems including but not limited to: Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint.

- Practices and models creativity, problem-solving and system improvements with other staff.

- Valid driver's license.

- Post-secondary education preferred.

Review:



A 3-month probationary review will be conducted with the Director of Operations.

Annual performance reviews will occur each February.

Terms:



40 hours per week in office. 3 weeks paid vacation.
