Job Overview:

The Town of Woodstock is looking for candidates interested in the opportunity to provide continued support for the Fire Department team. This is a term position; however, hours will be consistent with a full-time equivalent over the regular two-week pay period. It is a unionized role with wages and benefits as set out in the Collective Agreement between the Town of Woodstock and CUPE Local 719. The Term Relief Driver/Firefighter is required to replace permanent Fire Drivers as needed, the Fire Department operates 24-7-365, shifts include days, evenings, nights, weekends, holidays, on-call 7am-5pm and 5pm to 7am.

Key job duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Firefighter Level I Safely drive and operate fire truck and/or fighting apparatus, pumps and equipment in response to emergency calls Maintain a valid class 3 license with airbrake endorsement and/or equivalent licensing; combined with a driver's abstract which meets insurance requirements as a standard risk driver Standard or Emergency First Aid Training & CPR is preferred and a willingness to be trained is essential Conduct and document regular vehicle and equipment safety inspections Complete driver's logs, post-trip refueling and cleaning of vehicles as needed Work independently without direct supervision, but collaborate effectively with departmental colleagues as necessary Knowledgeable of the municipal streets, roadways and routes in the Town of Woodstock and surrounding areas covered by the WFD Adhere to work and call-in schedule, closely monitor pager when required, track hours of work and call-ins as per departmental requirements and/or Town policies and procedures
