Under the supervision of the director of facilities, the bus driver provides transportation of students.

ESPONSIBILITIES
:
safely transport passengers per set schedule;
supervise passengers and ensure bus safety rules are regarded;
assist in emergency situations and administer basic first aid;
carry out regulated safety inspections and complete logs;
report bus deficiencies and malfunctions to the mechanic;
clean bus as scheduled and/or required;
participate in job-related training and staff development;
communicate positively and effectively, and interact as a collaborative and consultative team member;
understand and act in accordance with school and district policies and procedures, district Health & Safety Manual, WorkSafeBC regulations, Motor Vehicle Act, and National Safety Code;
maintain confidentiality; and
other duties as assigned.

UALIFICATIONS
:
Class 2 BC driver's licence with air endorsement;
one year experience in bus passenger transportation obtained within the last three years, and a safe driving record (driver abstract required);
thorough understanding of the Motor Vehicle Act and National Safety Code;
demonstrated ability to drive a school bus;
ability to take direction from the supervisor and work as part of a team;
effective communication skills in verbal, written and electronic format;
strong problem-solving and organizational skills; and
physical ability to perform all aspects of the position.
