Today, this essential downtown landmark has completed a multi-million dollar transformation, reimagining its lobby, rooms, dining venues, event spaces, and Fairmont Gold \xe2\x80\x93 the property\xe2\x80\x99s exclusive hotel within a hotel luxury experience. Another stunning chapter for Fairmont Royal York has begun.



What you will be doing to Create the Essential Toronto Experience:

  • Work closely with the Restaurant and Bar General Managers on the overall operation of the venues, conducting daily administrative work including but not limited to scheduling, preventive maintenance, opening & closing duties, etc.
  • On the floor presence, assisting guests with wine selection & pairings, working nights is a must
  • Develop and upkeep a formal wine training program for staff Work closely with the REIGN General Manager, Director of Outlets and senior F&B leadership on the overall beverage program, it\xe2\x80\x99s vision, as well as general restaurant and bar wine culture
  • Develop and evolve a world class wine list for our Venues
  • Prepare and execute weekly tasting with all teams to ensure they have the knowledge need to sell
  • Manage wine inventory, costing, & ordering and any inventory needed
  • Work with stewarding and other departments to manage usage of glassware, decanters, and other operating supplies
  • Maintain a strong relationship with suppliers, wine makers, brands & seek out new relationships
  • Develop and host wine focused events in the outlets per year ie wine dinners
  • Stay up-to-date with current wine trends & industry news; attend local trade shows, tastings & relevant events
  • Assist other areas of the hotel with wine programming from time-to-time
  • Work a variety of shifts, including evenings, weekends, & holidays
Qualifications

Your experience and skills include:
  • Sommelier training (WSET, CAPS, ISG, etc.)
  • Minimum 3 years restaurant management experience, with minimum 1 year in a Sommelier role, preferably in a high volume upscale environment
  • Strong passion for food, wine, & travel
Physical Aspects of Position (included but not limited to):
  • Standing throughout entire shift
  • Lifting & carrying items up to 30lbs
  • Often walking between Bar & back-of-house areas throughout service
