About this opportunity:

We are looking for a Regulatory Compliance Technician to join Cenovus\xe2\x80\x99s E&R Regulatory Compliance team. This team specializes in supporting compliance with regulatory agency requirements related to inactive and suspended wells, and wells with surface casing vent flow or gas migration. This role interacts with field operations staff, engineers, and other colleagues to identify and manage regulatory obligations.

This position may be located at either our office in Calgary, Alberta or Lloydminster, Saskatchewan.

Responsibilities:

Work in collaboration with Field Operations and Production Engineering teams to jointly manage surface casing vent flow/gas migration (SCVF/GM), and inactive/suspended wells in accordance with regulatory requirements.

Coordinate with Field Operations to complete annual regulatory submissions for SCVF/GM and inactive wells.

Identify and address non-compliant wells and work with Field Operations and Production Engineering teams to resolve.

Assist the Regulatory Compliance team to respond to audits and inspections by regulators.

Act as a Cenovus subject matter authority on AER\xe2\x80\x99s Directive 013 and BCER\xe2\x80\x99s Drilling and Production Regulations (inactive wells requirements). Knowledge of SK regulations is an asset.

Keep accurate records of SCVF/GM and suspended well information in Cenovus\xe2\x80\x99 designated tracking system.

Regularly report progress of inactive/suspended well management program and SCVF/GM programs to Field Operations and Production Engineering.

Communicate timely and relevant information to asset staff through emails, meetings and on the Well Compliance SharePoint site.

Other responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:

Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.

Completion of a Post-Secondary Diploma or Degree in a related program or equivalent experience.

Minimum of 3+ years of experience directly with suspended well management and SCVF/GM, or 5 or more years of oil and gas experience in a related technical role.

Experience with AER, BCER and MER directives and regulations related to suspended well management and SCVF/GM.

Experience with regulatory systems: OneStop, DDS, KERMIT, eSubmission, IRIS.

Experience with Wellview, ClearOps, and Power BI is an asset.
