Overview

Are you a detail-oriented person who is able to make decisions based on a thorough analysis of facts and policies? Do you enjoy working with clients and in a team environment?

We're looking for individuals who excel at decision making and communicating complex law and policy, to join our team of registration officers in the Assessments department. The Assessments department at WorkSafeBC is responsible for helping employers register for our no-fault insurance systems and maintaining their accounts. Our insurance registration officers are responsible for adjudicating firms applying for workers' compensation insurance.

This position is part of our hybrid work model, enjoy the flexibility of working primarily from home. What you'll do

As a registration officer you will:

  • Adjudicate and manage a high volume of insurance registration applications, ensuring all law and policy requirements are met
  • Respond to questions from firms applying for insurance
  • Initiate contact and/or respond to clients in sometimes difficult situations while displaying a tactful, empathetic, respectful, and courteous manner
  • Support other areas of the Board by providing information about a firm's registration status

We're looking for people who can:
  • Professionally and efficiently solicit and analyze information as it relates to a particular industry or a specific situation, to determine whether or not a particular firm is required, allowed, or voluntarily permitted to register with us for insurance coverage
  • Make timely, independent decisions by applying law and policy to process applications for registration, categorize firms to assign insurance rates, set effective dates of coverage, and, if applicable, reject registration requests verbally and in writing
  • Accurately record, explain, and defend information orally and in writing
  • Provide outstanding customer service
Your experience and educational background:
  • A minimum of grade 12, however, a post-secondary diploma or degree is preferred
  • A minimum of two years of decision making experience where you independently analyzed facts and evidence and applied Acts, policies, and procedures
  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations
