Job Description

:

In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority (Island Health) patient and staff safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone; as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.

As a member of the patient care team, the Registered Respiratory Therapist provides diagnostic data, therapeutic intervention, and ensures the safe and appropriate application of a variety of respiratory equipment.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education, Training And Experience

Graduation from a recognised Respiratory Therapy program and eligible for registered membership with the British Columbia Society of Respiratory Therapists (BCSRT). Life Support "C" Certificate required, Instructor's Certificate an asset.

Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Demonstrated ability to deal with others effectively. Demonstrated ability to work effectively in highly stressful environments. Demonstrated ability to work independently with limited supervision. Demonstrated ability to make decisions in emergency situations and establish priorities. Demonstrated physical ability to carry out the duties of the position. Demonstrated ability to operate related office equipment.
