Your Opportunity:

As an Assertive Outreach Nurse (RN or RPN), you will work with individuals with severe and persistent mental illness who require long-term case management aimed at community-based stabilization. You will do this by providing outreach, health related and harm reduction services to the adult population. You will provide holistic (psychological, physical, health, spiritual, and social) supports to meet the individual needs of the client. In collaboration with the multidisciplinary team and reporting to the Manager, you will have the opportunity to work closely with clients, stakeholders, hospital, and community agencies while supporting the optimal outcomes for clients of the Adult Long Term Service. You will utilize your excellent nursing skills to your full scope while positively impacting the patient\'s perception of the care received Additional responsibilities will include working in partnership with and providing clinically focused consultation to community agencies and other healthcare providers in the delivery of mental health services. This position covers a large geographic area radiating out from Wainwright and will work directly with a Consumer Support Worker to deliver treatment for vulnerable individuals living in rural settings. A strong knowledge of Alberta Mental Health legislation is essential in this position.

As a Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RPN), you will provide leadership through a wide variety of nursing services to patients (clients, residents) for the purpose of promoting, maintaining or restoring health, mental health and preventing mental illness, injury and disability. You will teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and take necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care, while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited Psychiatric nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Alberta (CRPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). Additional Required Qualifications:

Minimum 2 years nursing experience with acute mental health in a community setting. Registered psychiatric Nurses (RPN) and Registered Nurses (RN) with relevant skills and experience welcome to apply Excellent crisis intervention skills and ability to triage priorities. An adaptability and flexibility must be demonstrated through your employment references. Preferred Qualifications:

Connect Care training for Ambulatory Mental Health Therapist. Experience with service delivery in rural setting is preferred. BLS and Nonviolent Crisis intervention.
