ABOUT THE ROLE

Bethammi Nursing Home is seeking compassionate and dedicated staff to join our team in providing exceptional care to our residents. Reporting to the Clinical Manager, the Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) is responsible for assessing residents, developing a plan of care, implementing treatments and evaluating the outcomes, in consultation with the resident/Substitute Decision Maker (SDM) and other health professionals, in accordance with the Standards of Practice for the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) and current Long-Term Care Legislation. The extent to which the RPN carries out these components of practice is determined by the complexity of the resident's condition including the predictability of the outcome for the resident; the knowledge, skill and judgment required to assess for and deal with the risks involved; and the resources (human and otherwise) available in the environment for collaboration and/or assistance.

WHAT YOU BRING

Education/Experience:


Current unrestricted registration with the Ontario College of Nurses (CNO) Ability to work at full scope Practical Nursing Diploma from a recognized educational institute Basic Life Support Certificate (BLS) Demonstrated experience and interest in working with senior populations, including providing end-of-life care Familiarity with the Long-Term Care Home Act and Regulations and other relevant legislation




Skills/Abilities:


Excellent communication, leadership, critical reasoning and problem-solving skills Demonstrated understanding and commitment to people-centered care Computer proficiency, including Word and Windows, email communication and electronic documentation Excellent time management skills Recent experience in the administration of medications Must be able to meet the physical demands of the position and exercise good judgment Ability to work independently and as part of a team Evidence of continuing professional development experience Ability to be flexible and work on either unit based on residents' needs Demonstrated regular attendance at work




Assets


Certification relevant to practice setting (Gerontology, Palliative Care, Dementia), including training in P.I.E.C.E.S. (TM) and Gentle Persuasive Approaches is an asset Membership in a professional association (i.e. RPNAO) is an asset Pharmacology certificate




Conditions of Employment:


This position shall be conditional upon a satisfactory

where indicated, to ensure the absence of relevant criminal convictions.
