Nursing Statement:




Nursing is a self-regulated profession governed through the College. A nurse is responsible for practicing in accordance with the standards of the profession, and for keeping current and competent throughout his/her nursing career (College of Nurses of Ontario, 2009).

Qualifications:



Current Certificate of Competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario required Current BCLS Certificate required Ontario Telemedicine Network (OTN) Clinical Telemedicine Certification Program preferred

Principal Duties:



Support patients during their virtual visits by conducting patient examinations using tele-diagnostic equipment such as a digital stethoscope, otoscope, and a patient examination camera Work with patients and their virtual multidisciplinary teams to plan and support appropriate follow-up care Maintain clinical competence in caring for patients across a broad spectrum of care, supporting the ethical delivery of care, and ensuring compliance with Personal Health Information Protection Act Develop and implement Telemedicine clinic days for the priority population group specified Advocate for the integration of telemedicine across the organization. Support telemedicine as a clinical and educational enabler Participates in unit/department and Hospital Quality Improvement initiatives Completes continuing education requirements as necessary Acts as a coach, mentor, resource and positive role model for new staff physicians and students Support onboarding of new physicians to Oracle Health Liaise with Department Leads, Medical Directors, Chief of Staff, CMIO and Director Medical Affairs to support the development and approval of PowerPlans and Medical Directives Participate in Regional and Hospital Committees related to Powerplans and Medical Directives Assess learning and practice needs for implementation, maintenance and evaluation of Oracle programs Participates in CQI projects through audits of clinical modules Participates in monitoring standards of documentation for electronic charting Works collaboratively with Transform, Program Directors/Managers to incorporate enhancements and upgrades of clinical modules into practice Collaborates with Program Directors/Managers physicians and staff to assess Oracle learning needs Develops, implements and evaluates computer training and orientation programs Dialogues with Program Directors/Managers, Manager of Professional Practice and Interprofessional Informatics Supervisor re: program needs across the system Is a team player Communicates effectively with all levels of staff, physicians, volunteers, community partners Networks with peers internally from other facilities Other duties as required
