Position Summary:

  • Performs a variety of duties in the operating theatre to assist the surgical team, in accordance with the standards set by the Health Centre
  • Performs added nursing skills as identified and approved by the nursing advisory committee
  • Primary role is to perform as the scrub nurse for surgical procedures
  • Works in compliance with Occupational Health & Safety Act

Qualifications:
  • Current Registered Practical Nursing registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • A post-graduate operating room course from approved college required
  • Minimum 1-3 years current O.R. experience required
  • ORT designation required
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Positive work and attendance record is essential

Physical Demands:
  • Frequent walking, standing, reaching, stooping and bending
  • Occasional/frequent lifting up to approx. 15 kg
  • Occasional pushing and pulling up to 17 kg
Location:
We offer employees, in roles that are conducive to remote work, the flexibility and the right mix of remote and in-office work (approximately 80/20). Acknowledging that the primary works space will be remote work from home, but there will be times when onsite presence is appropriate just as there will be times when onsite presence may not be possible.
The expectation is that remote work locations, as part of the Flex First program, will be in the employee’s place of residence, and adhere to all THP policies and procedures, with special consideration towards privacy. Since employees should be available to return to the workplace with 24 hours’ notice, remote work outside of the province or country is not acceptable.
