Job Description


The Registered Practical Nurse in the Dialysis Unit, in collaboration with the Registered Nurse, is responsible for the comprehensive, coordinated and individualized care of patients with chronic kidney disease requiring hemodialysis treatments. The Registered Practical Nurse is an active member of the multidisciplinary team that provides care to the patient and support to their family. Job Requirements:
Required:

  • Hold a current certificate of competence to practice as a R.P.N. in Ontario.
  • Minimum of one (1) year medical/surgical experience within the past five (5) years; working at full scope.
  • Minimum of one (1) year hemodialysis experience required.
  • Successful completion of a Physical Assessment Course, Medication Administration course, and Aseptic Principles certificate required (exempt if newly graduated within the past four (4) years).
  • Essential duties require ability to lift and move patients, pushing, pulling, bending & stooping.
  • Demonstrated ability to function efficiently and effectively as a team member.
  • The successful candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, an excellent attendance record and a proven commitment to professional development, as well as to the Mission of the Hospital
  • Demonstrated satisfactory work performance and attendance history

Additional Information: Union: SEIU Posting Number: 24-079 Number of Positions Available: 1 Department: Dialysis Location: Midland Hours of Work: Temporary Part Time, scheduled up to 24 hours a week. Must be available to work shifts including days, evenings, nights and weekends. Shifts and hours may change according to departmental requirements and as per the SEIU collective agreement.
