Job Description

If you want to work in a family home and provide individualized care to a woman, this may be an ideal position. We are looking for an RPN to provide support to a woman in meeting her physical health, emotional health and personal care needs of her daily life.

This is an ideal position for someone who understands the difference between when working for an institutional or agency setting vs. working privately with a family in their home. We are highly interested in an RPN that can appreciate that the family has been supporting their daughter/sister for 30 years and because of the care of the family and good RPNs and PSW she has remained in good health.

You will need to be competent in using a ceiling lift, Hoyer lift, positioning, and personal care for someone requiring full support. Comfortable with G-tube feeding and some orientation will be provided. This woman lives with an elderly parent with some cognition issues, her sisters are involved in their sister's care and supportive of their parents - you will have to be understanding of the struggles of aging health issues and be supportive.

The ideal candidate will be reliable, diligent and positive. They will have positive energy, creatively looking for ways to engage with this woman. They will have a person-centered approach and appreciate the opportunity to develop one-to-one relationships. They will have the willingness to understand the importance of her family and home life - respecting the routines that have been a part of her life for years. Must comfortably use oral and written English - this is essential for reporting. The right person will be able to work well within a team and communicate effectively and positively.

Hours: 17.5 to 21 hours a week hours/week

Monday to Friday - 1- 4:30 pm and occasional Saturday 1- 5 pm - opportunity for additional hours when hours are available

Rate of Pay: $35 to $38/ hour self-employment arrangement

Location: City of Pickering

*Must be a currently certified RPN and insured
