Under the supervision of the Director, Supports and Services and in adherence with the Regulated Health Professions Act and The Nursing Act, the Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) provides health-related support to all OCAPDD Services. The RPN may also provide in-service training to employees on topics related to medication administration, health care, health promotion, competent care and prevention of injury. The RPN may coordinate and facilitate access to health care for individuals supported by OCAPDD. The RPN establishes and maintains professional relationships with individuals, families, OCAPDD program employees, other agencies and the community in general. The RPN will incorporate a person directed approach and participate in the development of quality assurance measures in accordance with each person' health and wellness needs and goals.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Practical Nursing diploma from an Approved Ontario College RPN program or equivalent as Approved by the College of Nurses of Ontario and a minimum five (5) years' experience relevant to the job responsibilities;
Current Certificate of Registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario.
COMPETENCIES:
? Effective oral and written communication skills.
? Knowledge of Microsoft Windows 10 environment.
? Possess current certification in First Aid and CPR.
? Possess current certification or willingness to obtain certification in CPI.
? Ability to assist with lifts/transfers of wheelchair-dependent individuals.
? Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs (18 kgs).
? Knowledge of Health and Safety (H&S) responsibilities, capacity to implement required Health and Safety policies and safe work practices, commitment to participate in health and safety activities and relevant Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) training.
? Possess a valid Class "G2" driver's license and have access to a vehicle.
? Knowledge of the Regulated Health Professions Act, The Nursing Act and ofthe Professional Standards and Guidelines of the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO)
