Huron Hospice Bender House is a small, residential hospice on 12 acres of land, just outside Clinton, ON. Our outside grounds are beautiful, but it is the inside of the house that makes it special. Bender House is an intimate space where families gather to create as many memories as possible, as their loved ones come to their end of their lives. Our team of skilled RNs and RPNs, along with our compassionate volunteers and committed Leadership group, ensure that all feel well cared for when they enter though the doors.

The successful candidate for this position will have excellent communication skills, be able to quickly establish meaningful relationships, be skilled in the assessment and management of palliative symptoms and ensure that all domains of person-centered care are addressed. The candidate will demonstrate an ability to work with a variety of people and in a variety of clinical situations. They will be comfortable working independently as well as being part of a team and will be able to adapt to the varied and changing needs of the residents in our care. The successful candidate will be committed to ongoing learning and growth opportunities

Required Qualifications



Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) Minimum of one year registered practical nursing experience, in the past 5 years Current BCLS certification Computer literacy (Outlook, Microsoft Word)

Preferred Qualifications



Previous experience working at Huron Hospice Fundamentals of Palliative Care (must be willing to complete within 6 months of employment with Huron Hospice) Comprehensive Advanced Palliative Care Education (CAPCE) (must be willing to obtain within 18 months of employment with Huron Hospice) Learning Essentials Approaches to Palliative Care (LEAP) course(s) Previous experience working with a palliative care team and/or hospice environment in the past 5 years Previous experience working with palliative clients in long term care and/or other settings in the past 5 years Demonstration of continuous professional development (courses, conferences etc) Previous committee involvement Experience with Info Anywhere (our client management system)
The successful candidate must be available for both short and long term availability. Every attempt is made to plot shifts in advance, however short call coverage (within 24 hours) is required with this position. Shifts available are 12 hour days and nights and fall on all days of the week. The candidate must have the ability to pick up all types of shifts.

This position includes access to an Employee and Family Assistance Program and an additional 12% in lieu of vacation and benefits. We have recently revised our pay scale to bring nursing pay above the average for hospices in Ontario. The salary range of this position is between $30.24 to $35.48 (this includes 12% in lieu of vacation and benefits) and is based on experience and education and will be determined at time of hire.
